"$50 is very cheap when the MSRP is $75. And when I'm evaluating a figure cost doesn't enter into it as far as I'm concerned. How happy I am with it is what counts. Sure I was kicking myself for buying a custom Keaton Batman for $250 that turned out to be crap, but I don't dwell on it."
Value more than gross dollars does have more meaning to me. I have to consider total cost as I'm not wealthy, but if I like it whether it's expensive or inexpensive (subjective judgement obviously) is irrelevent. If it's just more than I can afford I don't buy it but the amount I spend has very little to do with how much I like something.
I think the DCD Routh figure really was a good value even at 60 bucks retail. I was happy to get it for less. I didn't mean fifty dollars was no money, I work fairly hard for fifty dollars, but it's not a particularly expensive licensed 1/6th figure. When compared to the HT it was a "cheapo" figure.
I had a Keaton Batman custom made by a fellow in Mexico, Dave. Also used the Horizon kit and GI Joe articulated body. Like yours it was crap and cost $200. purchased direct from the maker. I sold it for a comparatively small loss on eBay, as I recall about fifty bucks and was entirely satisfied to get it.
