AS I SAID BEFORE - LET'S KEEP ON TOPIC. CF is actually contributing here by posting pics of the Medicom Supes - personally I'd like to encourage this kind of behaviour.

I actually like much about the Medicom Supes. Not having one in hand, all I can see wrong about it is the body and it's overall scale and that it lacks some detail in the blue costume. The details may be added perhaps, with a blue seam line here and there...if needed...and the body can be switched out as I have said above. The head looks pretty nice from the photos I see here.

No two companies make these the same (see huge 12" Batman Begins debates...). Amazing the differences. Why, when so many consistant visual refs are available, I have no clue. But, it is interesting.

I agree with Les..... You put a better body on that Superman and he will look fantastic. The sculpt could use a repaint, but so could the HT version. I bet that after THAT is accomplished.... it might even beat out HT.

The biggest advantage that HT had IMO, besides that phenomenal suit... was the articulation. I'd love to see the Medicom in some nice poses, just to see how it all stacks up.....

Can the medicom suit fit over the Hot Toys body?
I mean, Medicom is a bit smaller than the rest of the 12" figures. Could that cause short sleeves or tight torso issues? Or the difference of size isn't noticeable?

What is the point of getting a Medicom Supes if you have to REPLACE the entire body and repaint the head -- what are we talking about here? Yes, Les has described a way to fix it but it involves quite a bit of work and expense.

The Med is a total rebuild and even if you do that the suit has an awkward collar and the "S" shield is not film-accurate in terms of proportion although the Cape looks great.

I still love my Supes the BEST... that's for sure. And I also would not want to go through that much to have the figure I want. But at least those who got it have an option.

Though from what I know of my HT fig, the costume may not be easy to remove without cutting it. So that might make it a bit difficult.

I have no intention of removing the HT suit but yes, having options does help out those who ordered the Med...

Sideshow should pick up the rights and do a Reeves Superman, the only Superman in my book (Routh was great, but Reeves is the memory.)

YEP! That's pretty much it PBK!

As for the aformentioned SUPER CUSTOM... I have the solution for the quintesential HT/Medicom Superman combo version....Get both and put the Med head and cape on the HT body with suit! Best of both worlds!

But, it would be the most expensive precustom purchases in ages! :D
(It would look good though, provided the neck fit and all! I mean...for a serious purist RICH fanatic...:lol )

I still like a little more the HT head sculpt. Medicom's head seems to be too much serious to me (near to a bad face expression). But I claim to see the Medicom repainted head soon and see this sculpt with a good work of paint.

Someone photoshopped a pic of the Medicom to make the stomach area more proportionate and the turtleneck tucked in:

If the figure actually looked like that then I wouldn't have nearly as many issues with it. Well, except for the blonde eyebrows.

Really? Poeple like this head over the Hot Toys' head? Am I the only one who thinks he looks more like Leonid the Magnificant than Routh?

OK guys. I did the following EXERCISE with Photoshop.
I'm not a master of painting or sculpting, but I'd like to show you two examples about what a repaint could do to help (at least my paint skills), or if a repaint isn't enough and what this figure needs is some sculpt adjustment (my photoshop skills).
Please, this is an exercise for fun and doesn't have negative intentions.

1 - I try to simulate a repaint of the face on the original Medicom Figure.
I change the color of the hair from Black to a Dark Brown or Black with Browns reflexes. Then I changed the blonde eyebrows to black. Finally I removed some lipstick from the lips. But still doesn't look like Brandon Routh to me

2 - The 2nd thing I did was to change the structure of the head. So, with Photoshop I tried to simulate a re-sculpt of the head and aplicate the same paint job in the 1st. step.
I made his eyebrows thinner than the original and eliminated the angry look.
Also, reduced the size of the nose (I think the original is too big). And finally I reduced the size of the chin (it is so much prominent in the original and looks unnatural)

OK, I know still isn't the perfect Brandon Routh, but as I wrote in the picture, give thanks that it's not the Superman's Michael Jackson version.

I know that some of those changes are impossibles to do, unless you decide to resculpt, but I thought i was nice and funny to do this exercise. :D

Wow, a lot of effort you've put in to describe the ideal Routh Supes. :lol
Like many others, Reeves is my child hood hero and there can only be 1!

Well, it's not the ideal Routh, but at least that's what I should do if I could re-sculpt the Medicom's head.
Reeves is not my childhood hero but I'd like to have a figure of him. But what I can't wait to have, is the Christopher Reeve figure in my hands. I hope that a serious company release this line of products soon and in a good quality (Hot Toys, Takara or Sideshow)
