Believe it or not, the Medicom nut-swingers are drooling over this figure. And some of the same ones lauding this as an awesome figure are crapping on the SSC Han. :rotfl

Hey Les, how hard is it to do a body switchout on a Medicom figure?

Only Medicom I have actually HAD to switch out is the Rocketeer. He was, as usual, waaaaaay too short, so I put him on a Dragon body with lifts in the boots for more hieght as Bill Campbell is TALL. But, I couldn't use a Sideshow body as the Medicom clothes would not fit that. He came out ok. Tight, but ok. Tall enough next to other guys.

As for a Supes, I would assume, with the spandex, that you could put him on a decent bodybuilder type body, a BBI or a Hot Toys maybe, even a good Volks. Then, if the head will transfer over somehow, depending on needed surgery on the neck (I have no Medi Supes, pics would help me to see what I'd need to know here regarding neck mount info...), I would mount or transfer the head only to the body, shift over the suit and be done with it. Hands may or may not be an issue regarding fists availability etc.

I have mentioned that a perfect scale Supes would actually be derived by transposing the Medi head and cape to the Hot Toys Supes. Again, neck issues and add lifts in the boots. (I did that shoe lift trick with my HT Supes to great advantange! Helped him a bunch as Routh has long legs anyway)

BTW, I also remounted an Walmart purchased 12" Ultimate Superman head to a Hot Toys body neck mount and a kid put the Ken Doll suit on that for a nice inexpensive custom version. It's all in the neck mount really.

Okay, got him, opened him. The chest IS too big. The fists are too small.

BUT...

...unlike all the other SR figures and very important for the character...

HE CAN POINT HIS TOES!!!!

the boots are flexible enough and the ankle joints are tight enough that he can hold a toe-pointed pose. That's a huge thing for Superman in my book.

what's the "shoe lift trick"? u just put something down in the boots?

I think Medi Supe's cape may not work on HT Supe. Looks like it will be too short. Unless you can somehow extend the length of Medi Supe's cape.

Pretty much Mook. His boots are so big that you can hide small children in there. I use shoe inserts saved from dragon figures etc. but wadded up kleenex actually works very well. Whatever raises him up some.

But....

Dave says the toe point thing is big, so I don't know about even trying that with the Medi then...unless changed over.... Good "point" Dave.
However, I have "frankensteined" :frank forearms and calves over from one figure body to another to allow for such hand and foot capabilities as this....food for thought...

KG, I was worried that the Medi's cape would be a bit short. Do you have both figures? The HT and the Medi? If so, can you (or anyone) post a pic of the two Supes side by side from front and rear to analyze this better? And, is the cape seamed so it would let out? Or, is there room for growth at the neck end?
Any info would help.

I'm woikin' blind here! :huh

I think Medi Supe is about the same hight as Medi Batman Begins, so it will be very short compared with HT's.

Sorry, I don't have Medi Supe. Maybe some other people can do a HT vs Medi Supe review to clarify some questions.

WOW ~ So.... from that picture HT and Medi Supe are about the same height ?

I am surprised.

Thanks for all the tips. Say, any pointers on how to remove HT Superman's feet from his boots?

What about this version?

Mt current WIP is moving again, thanks to my wife and her sewing machine(she really needs to show me how to use the bloody thing!)
Getting the HT foot out of the boot requires patience; you just have to keep working it out(like so many other things in life...)...PS

WOW, great shots Captain Sack. VERY informative. So, you could get both and switch the Medi cape and Head and add height in the boots (aid on that to come, gdb) and you would have a nice and fairly accurate Supes. Granted, his face needs a repaint and a lessoning of attitude, but that might can be done with paint too...if it's worth all the trouble that is!

Anyway...

To remove the feet from the HT Superman boots...

1- Pull off each boot/foot. It should leave the double ball mount in the foot and not in the leg. If it comes out of the feet, leave it attached to the leg, otherwise, set figure aside.
2- Microwave a 3/4 full coffee cup of water for two minutes on high to heat it up well.
3- Using a pair of needlenose pliers, remove the double ball pin from the feet inside each boot and set them aside with figure.
4- Dip each boot into the heated water up to just below the "V" in front so water doesn't get inside, for about 30 seconds, and take out and quickly dry.
5- "snake" the foot up as far as it will go into the mid boot. It gets pretty stuck in mine, so I used the needlenosed pliers to pull each out the rest of the way.
6- Add some foam or cloth material into each boot heel. If you have a Dragon brand shoe insert, push this down into each boot, but make sure the heels are well filled or the foot will go back down into the heel and you will have no realistic raising of the hieght for all your troubles.
7- reinsert feet into the boots each, without the double ball joint pieces. Use reverse technique of step 4 & 5 to get feet back in. Make sure you get the right foot in each boot. Don't laugh. I mixed it up the first time...:lol
8- Push double ball joint into each lower calf of each leg of the figure and make sure it points straight.
9- make sure lower leg segment of tights is down low and tight so they don't buckle and ride up when putting boots back on.
10- Push each boot back onto leg until it snaps into place. Proper alignment of ball and joint is essential.

Yur dun!

His boot tops should be roughly at mid calf to be accurate, and they do ride a bit high on the HT figure as it is out of box, due to the lack of heel elevation needed in the boots. So, first thing you find after raising him is he is now taller slightly that the HT Batman (which looks more accurate) and is more impressive in overall symmetry and build. Makes the head look a bit better scale too, even though I would still like a slightly smaller head like the Medi on it if possible. But, it looks good enough raised that I am fine with mine now. Try it! You'll be glad you did.

Just for fun, here is my Routh (with my custom Reeve) to show the new hieght look of Routh.

Hope this all helps you guys. I do suggest trying it if you are adventurous enough! :D
