Thanks for all the tips. Say, any pointers on how to remove HT Superman's feet from his boots?
WOW, great shots Captain Sack. VERY informative. So, you could get both and switch the Medi cape and Head and add height in the boots (aid on that to come, gdb) and you would have a nice and fairly accurate Supes. Granted, his face needs a repaint and a lessoning of attitude, but that might can be done with paint too...if it's worth all the trouble that is!
Anyway...
To remove the feet from the HT Superman boots...
1- Pull off each boot/foot. It should leave the double ball mount in the foot and not in the leg. If it comes out of the feet, leave it attached to the leg, otherwise, set figure aside.
2- Microwave a 3/4 full coffee cup of water for two minutes on high to heat it up well.
3- Using a pair of needlenose pliers, remove the double ball pin from the feet inside each boot and set them aside with figure.
4- Dip each boot into the heated water up to just below the "V" in front so water doesn't get inside, for about 30 seconds, and take out and quickly dry.
5- "snake" the foot up as far as it will go into the mid boot. It gets pretty stuck in mine, so I used the needlenosed pliers to pull each out the rest of the way.
6- Add some foam or cloth material into each boot heel. If you have a Dragon brand shoe insert, push this down into each boot, but make sure the heels are well filled or the foot will go back down into the heel and you will have no realistic raising of the hieght for all your troubles.
7- reinsert feet into the boots each, without the double ball joint pieces. Use reverse technique of step 4 & 5 to get feet back in. Make sure you get the right foot in each boot. Don't laugh. I mixed it up the first time...
8- Push double ball joint into each lower calf of each leg of the figure and make sure it points straight.
9- make sure lower leg segment of tights is down low and tight so they don't buckle and ride up when putting boots back on.
10- Push each boot back onto leg until it snaps into place. Proper alignment of ball and joint is essential.
Yur dun!
His boot tops should be roughly at mid calf to be accurate, and they do ride a bit high on the HT figure as it is out of box, due to the lack of heel elevation needed in the boots. So, first thing you find after raising him is he is now taller slightly that the HT Batman (which looks more accurate) and is more impressive in overall symmetry and build. Makes the head look a bit better scale too, even though I would still like a slightly smaller head like the Medi on it if possible. But, it looks good enough raised that I am fine with mine now. Try it! You'll be glad you did.
Just for fun, here is my Routh (with my custom Reeve) to show the new hieght look of Routh.
Hope this all helps you guys. I do suggest trying it if you are adventurous enough!
