I understand wanting something you feel is a great piece of art to be rare. That being said if you thinks it's beautiful why would you care if someone else has it. I don't know about you guys but out of the people I know I am the only one who collects these so every time someone comes over to them every piece I own is unique.

Honestly guys, ES is a part of the collecting game whether we like it or not. SSC built their business on limited collectibles. It's not going away anytime soon. If SSC sees no reason for an ES they would have stopped numbering all their merch long ago. However, collectors have to realize that the old days of a low ES is long gone. SSC is in the business to sell as many statues as they can. So, a higher ES is to be expected on their merch. I'm OK with that. I certainly want a number on my base...but I don't obsess about it.

people just can't get out of the past I guess :lol

so tempted to preorder this, only thing that is stopping me is I just have this feeling that down the line they're going to do New 52 PF and I much prefer her New 52 look, makes it so much harder to go after PF with the NRD looming over your head

:goodpost:
I happily would , and have, ignored a high or open ES if the statue itself lights my fire.
In fact my two favorite SS pieces are both open ES. How many others are out there is simply not a factor in how much I enjoy seeing them- or how much worth I see in them.

Collect figs not numbers.

I honestly don't see the problem with collecting both. The only time it's an issue is when you have collectors who think SSC is in the business of producing low edition sizes for its collectors. They are not. They are going to look to sell as much of their merch as they can. It's beyond ludicrous to think SSC would cut their own profits and leave money on the table to make a few collectors who obsess about edition sizes happy. That makes no business sense. It's amazing that some of the members here just can't quite grasp that.

it's all relative, market demand is bigger so ES's are bigger, sure its impressive to see something limited to 100 or 500 but the demand is so big that doing something like that may bring more negative then positive to the hobby, 500 people may be pleased but five thousand will be pissed and frustrated out of collecting if every exclusive was handled in such limited numbers as they have in the past, for SSC means less rev, for us means less product to choose from.

ES lovers are worried/concerned about resale value...Simples!

I love a low ES but I will buy something I love regardless, Hulk Maquette.

I don't think this is entirely true. I could care less if SSC made 100,000 WW PFs. I would still buy her. Resale wise, she would hold no value in the aftermarket. Yet, I can't bring myself to buy pieces with an open ES no matter how much I like them. I have collected for a little over a decade and the thought of no numbers on the bottom of a base just doesn't sit well with me. It just doesn't feel right for me. It's a personal choice, no one has to agree with me or understand my stance. The only reason I bring it up is because I don't fall into the category you listed. I don't require a number on my base for aftermarket value.

Edition size doesn't matter, and it isn't low enough. Pass.

ES does matter. However, given the raised ES on these DC pieces anyone coming here expecting a low ES is just setting themselves up for disappointment. order what you like in a promptly manner and avoid regret. We all know the date and approximate time when these pieces go up for order. You can play the waiting at your own risk of course.

Edition sizes are only a thing of the past if you go along with what Sideshow ultimately wants: open ES "collectibles" so they control every stage of the "collectibles" market. Especially that juicy secondary market price after time has passed a bit. Imagine being able to release any collectible you produce years later setting their own premium. Why should ebay sellers benefit from their hard work, right?

Don't get me wrong, we all like Sideshow for their quality and enjoy a lot of their products, but some of you are a little too quick to go along with whatever new rules they come up with chalking it up to a natural evolution of this hobby. Some are extremely willing to give up the collectible factor of these items that cost hundreds under the umbrella of "collect what you like and don't worry about the rest".
