...wow so this thread has degenerated into the whinefest every PF thread has been lately. You guys never get tired of the same argunent in every thread?

This is a very passive hobby. You preorder and then wait a year. Lots of dead time to fill in with lots of derailment from the main topic.

How can anything they made 2000+ of be considered a grail?

I despise the term grail as it gets assigned to anything with a little hype on it or something that they made little of. Particularly something old as they made less of these back then.

Grail talk is also very subjective and uses aftermarket values to support the argument.

That's great for you Spidey. This is your first PF and I'm sincerely glad you like him. Now, if you had the chance to see a Doom PF next to Bats you would see a big difference quality-wise. Or any of Sideshow's old PFs, when they had amazing quality (which they are still capable of but it's hit and miss). I saw Bats at my buddy's. I will say, he's very impressive in size but to me his finishing looks very cheap. That is strictly imo and I do not want to take away from the love some of you guys have for this piece. As for ES, if Sideshow would treat DC more reasonably in the 5000-6000 range, I would take no issue, and perhaps those factory workers in China would be less exhausted/over-worked or whatever is causing the QC to drop. Mary Jane and Punisher look flawless, Batman looks awful in comparison imo. And the fact that he can tip over...?! Inexcusable on Sideshow's part. Flawed design pure and simple. As for Supes, I REALLY hope he doesn't have one issue. If he does, back he goes. Now if WW is reasonable in ES and looks great painted, I will buy. If not, no biggie. I haven't PO'd her yet, nor do I plan to at this point until I see numbers on Ex and Reg.

Punisher and Mary Jane are nice and all, but they can't come close to competing with the Batman PF. I've owned the Doom, Captain America, Hulk, and Thor PF's, and the only one's that can give Batman a run for his money are Hulk and Doom. Captain America's baggy pants looked way worse than the slight sagging on my Batman's armpits. I didn't care for the cheap looking material on Thor either. I really can't say anything wrong about Hulk and Doom because I love those statues. The only thing that's really better about most of the old PF's is that they had lower edition sizes. I think Sideshow has continued to improve over the years, but they are very hit and miss. Although, when they do hit something it tends to be a homerun. They just need to get their QC under control. They need some QC for their QC.

if by derailment you mean tons of complaining, bashing, whining, and rampant negativity by entitled DB's who supposedly love collecting, then I agree with you.

This is true, however he did say "personal grail." I agree with you though.

See the thing is I have seen some of those older statues now, and I personally thing Batman holds up when compared to them, and for me it isn't about the stupid number that is on the bottom of statue that I bought that makes me love it, it is the piece of art I have bought. I know you guys don't agree, and while that is totally fine and your opinion is totally yours to have, you aren't going to for even a tenth of a second going to change my mind. I am educated enough now in the hobby to make my own call on something, and I know one other thing... If the Batman Ex had come out looking exactly like he does, but he had a 350 ES 99% of the haters would be healing him as the newest MASTERPIECE from SSC, and that isn't about the art, not even for a second.

I totally agree with you. Batman is totally on par with anything I have seen come out from SSC in the last 2 years, and I have seen all the awesome ones people have been drooling over. Personally I would say he is better, but I admit that might just be my love of the Bat talking. I would also put Bats on par with the likes of the original Cap PF and Thor PF, which I have seen now, but again I love my Bats more...lol. As for the Doom or Hulk PFs, well that I can't make any comparisons to because I haven't seen them in person, but I can't imagine that I PERSONALLY would love them more than Mr. Wayne...lol. In the end I agree with you m.c.d., though SSC has had some hits and misses, they are putting out as good if not better work today, and the main difference is the number on the bottom of the statue and now 0.000000001% of the worlds population can own theses as opposed to 0.000000001%.

Its rampant speculation about a piece that only has pictures and price tag. People don't even wait until things are announced any more to get mad, they just assume and go on a rant.

The crap is being brought into these threads by two guys mainly, and while I like them as people, their rampant "everything was better in the good old days" rants are just tiresome. I wouldn't even engage with them accept their bull**** is just to hard to take, and I fear that their, well, fear mkngering will scare newbs away from some AMAZING pieces.

And personally Batman PF is a mess, ES is bloated but why? cause hes batman? its not that great of a sculpt, Its plain compared to what sideshow normally makes, so yes i expect to see that statue floating around at retail price. I'll agree with you there.

Batman PF EX is being flipped like crazy... I'm on WL for it and really hoping to get one.... but if the prediction is the price will drop then i'll be really happy

I doubt the price will drop from sideshow end, they tend to like their profits.
