Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

Eh, I got it new/complete via EMS in a sturdy mailer box. Even came with a HT shopping bag like you'd get from the Toy Hunters store. Plus a Christmas scarf, which I think was meant as protection for the contents of the box, but was kind of funny to receive.

i kinda started a new thread because i didnt see this one, i nice chap gave me the link to this thread. i have read everyones thoughts and experences etc and really feel like i probably shouldnt be using them for my batman and joker figures. i got all my hopes up too. Damm! for what the un-offical shop offered me was more than $130 dollars cheaper than www.shopforme.com where alot of fellow collectors who are australian have recomended.

Damn it im stuck....really dont know what to do.

The massive majority here have had a positive experience purchasing through here. Just make sure that you pay via PayPay and then you are covered. shipforme is a great local show but you are easily looking at an extra $60 a figure at the least. If you are not comfortable purchasing through HTOS yet just wait until several more members post on the purchases.

Angolz have the Nicholson Joker for $236, only $6 more than HTonlinestore.com. I'm not sure how their postage compares but Angolz quote $50 to Australia (go to checkout and put in your details to see).

I've used Angolz for most of my HT purchases. Their postage to Australia is usually very good (postage for some HT figures is just $25 - 30) and their figure prices are pretty low too.

You're covered by PayPal for 45 days which is good for in stock items but not for pre-orders. Dunno how well stocked they can be on Bats atm, as the first batch might run out pretty fast.

i have been in similar situations in Ebay in the shipping took longer then 45 days to arrive. I informed PayPal of the situation and they were only too happy to extend this. I guess that when you put an PayPal payment on a desposit make sure that you state that this is for a deposit only and is fully refundable due to change of mind......or something along the line to cover yourself.

Maybe this is something you need to ask Dave when his post is finally approved by an admin here.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

i have ordered the Jack Sparrow, and scarecrow figures from them, i got it with the free shipping promotion. The items shipped out on the 10th and is expected to arrive on the 27th of January. As soon as the items arrive i will post some info on the figures etc.

My items had a tracking number and when i went to hong kong post i found that the item is shipped to qatar.

I googled a bit about this and the consensus is that once the 45 days are up, they've no obligation whatsoever to help you. Sometimes they will refund the money, but only if you've been a "loyal" customer (i.e. using paypal regularly for years).

Basically, one is advised to file a dispute before the 45 day limit every time since the dispute can be cancelled later if the item arrives.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

I really don't know ,but it doesn't really matter as they should've been prepared for this kind of situations .I was told at the customs that the brown box had a big hole and that they put it in a sack so it arrived stolen in Romania .

Did you say Customs tell you that they put the contents in a bag because there is a hole in the box? A small HT figure box measures at least 25 cm x 21 cm along the small edge, the hole needs to be that big for anyone to have any concern about the content sliding out. I don't think the Hong Kong Postoffice or anywhere will accept a parcel with a hole, only logical to think the hole was created afterwards. Customs inspect incoming goods into a country, they have the right to open packages, they are local to your country, if Customs told you they put the content in a sack, the figure was already in Romania.

Something is not adding up.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

Just to make it clear ,I just wanted to tell you guys what happened to me,if you want to believe me,ok ,if you want to buy from them ,it's your choice ,it's ok with me ,I won't lose anything if you buy from them but you may .I've contacted my postal office and the customs they said the seller/person who sent the package has to contact EMS and talk to them,I tried to file a claim but they told me that it's not going to help since I'm not the one who sent the package.I've showed them the pics and I tried to explain them that I'm not able to do anything to get the insurance for the package, they kept telling me that I need to go contact the postal office .As I said above it's your choice if you decide to make a purchase with them ,not my loss if anything goes wrong.

You really sound like the guy that I talked to ,the guy who "tried to help me".

Well.....it does sound like the only logical explanation. Dave has proof that the package he sent to you was 2kg and HK post would not have taken it with a hole in it. Out of curiosity....can you post a picture of the box with a hole? They must have been decent to get a 12inch figure out through it. Did you reestablish communication with Dave yet? This is your only option to have any chance of getting your money back via the correct procedure of claiming insurance through the post. The fact that you signed for it prior to checking contents might be a big big problem as you have basically signed any liability over to yourself.

From now on ALWAYS PayPal and ALWAYS check parcel content before accepting. This is all very basic and if you follow them you will never be accepting liability until you are 100% happy with your product. Never trust post or couriers as things get damaged, stolen or lost from time to time.

Best of luck sorting it out.

You mean the way I picked apart your claim, pointed out the holes in your argument and breaking down the situation logically? You are welcomed.

Certainly, I feel bad for you, I myself was once a victim of empty box mail fraud. But I was confused in this case as it seems that the initial claim was that you were sent an empty box by the store, then it became someone at your local customs or post office had snatched your prize instead, yet you maintained that the store is responsible for your loss. I am just trying to get a better understanding by asking some simple questions.

As mentioned numerous times by others, by signing for the package, you indicated acceptance of the delivery which makes it difficult to put a claim in. Also, it's true only the shipper can initiate the investigation process.

I think fingers need to be pointed at the people who stole your figure not the ones who shipped it.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

Hello,

To those few requesting the forms from the parcel that my figure came in here is one that I could find. The other box I reused to send out the Police Joker and no longer have. I still have not found the invoices but if I do I will post them on here as well. Both packages came from Hong Kong so likely the same place.

Cheers
