He did move the hammer a little. :lol

He should have been able to do more than that...

Note the black suit and replacement shield as well, could be a preview of a big moment being saved for Infinity War.

In seriousness Jean stepping through the doors to save Xavier was probably the most badass moment in the entire series. I dug it.

Yep, I love how she was the one who saved the world and that she is super powerful like she should be. I hated the way they portrayed her (very subdued) in the original films until the crappy X3. Jean has always been one of my favorite characters so to see all the layers to her powers in this film was amazing IMO.

I loved her outfit at the end too but I am sure they will tweak it before the next film.

Does the film explain the Phoenix force? It's supposed to be a cosmic entity...not some hidden or repressed mutant power like in X3. That was almost as dumb as making Juggernaut a mutant :slap

Ob no doubt no doubt but movieverse he's still working on getting there.

They're going to have Cap go all black suit symbiote on Thanos. :lol

From my POV, it's insinuated to be her innate powers, and not the cosmic presence. But they didn't explicitly explain it. They could say she was abducted by aliens or what have you. I wouldn't care much, except that you take away the ability to do that storyline the right way. Based on her instability and the threat she poses due to it, a Mastermind type story would work really well in the films though, alien presence or no.

Out of curiosity how far did you follow the X-Men in the comics kara? What year did you stop and start (not necessarily real life years if you went back and started with their 1960's stuff or what have you.)

On a side note it seems viewers 30 and under really only know the big stories from 2000 on (Winter Soldier, Civil War, Planet Hulk, Avengers vs. X-Men, etc.)

I've read the bulk of the comics from the first one through the early '90s, a little past the Claremont/Lee "brand split." Though there are large chunks of New Mutants and X-Factor that I'm not too aware of. The storyline I was alluding to (and I shouldn't assume people are aware of it!) is from the best X-Men run by Claremont and Byrne, in the midst of the Phoenix storyline. The Hellfire Club (with Mastermind posing as a member) defeat the team by Mastermind brainwashing Jean, having her believe that he is her lover in a Victorian-era fantasy, where the X-Men are villainous rogues. When she figures out what is going on, she brutally destroys his mind. One of my top two favorite X-Men comics is from that storyline:

It might be a little weird to have the current Cap pick up the hammer only to take a downgrade down to Thor's power level though. :lol

:lol :lol

So this is where i'm at so far, tell me what you think:

I have BB/TDK/TWS/CW in the same quality category but I do feel the urge to now add TFA to this category.

Then I place BvS and XMA in the same category as AOU.

Deadpool can go hang out with TDKR. :monkey4

What say you khevster.

Okay, cool. So basically parallel to my history with Cap comics. I fell away a bit in the mid-90's when Gruenwald's stories were getting SO goofy (Cap-Wolf, Battle Armor Cap) and the art got pretty poor for those storylines too so it was quite the double-whammy and then right as Waid and Garney made it cool again bam, Heroes Reborn.

I had every issue of the Wolverine solo series for the first few years and at some point would like to read some of those classic X-Men tales. Is there a particular Epic Collection trade that you're most fond of?

Looks pretty good. AoU went up and down for me and is kind of back "up" again after CW and I'm wondering if the good of XMA will outweigh the silly stuff after another viewing or two (which probably won't be anytime soon.) I think that bottom group will be BvS > AoU > XMA after the dust settles but they're pretty close in quality so we'll see.

But I definitely put TFA up there with those others, one reason is that it's so damn bloody! By far the bloodiest film in the MCU what with all the Indiana Jones style "blood mist" that sprays every time someone gets shot. Stanley Tucci also gets shot three times with R-rated bloody exit wounds coming out his back, the propeller kill, etc. All that plus the Star Spangled Man montage, great character building moments pre-serum, an exciting finale really make for an underrated origin story IMO.

Damn, you sold me heavy on TFA, it definately belongs up there for certain now. :hi5:

Here ye here ye...khev and I bestow upon TFA the crown of perfect trilogy and grant it permission to be in the BB/TDK/TWS/CW category. :lecture.

I like your BvS > AOU > XMA train, will be interesting to see what the extended does for BvS and can you imagine an extended XMA!

I think its best that you and I leave XMA in the AOU category for now so as not to rile up kara so much.

Yum

I know what to tell my wife I want for Father's day, but I already know how that conversation is going to go.

So you've only read the good stories then.:wink1:

Even though you did not ask me :) I am going to throw out my opinion anyways.. :lol

I watched TFA again the other night (first time since the theater) and I while I enjoyed it, IMO it is far from the same quality as TDK, TWS, and CW. I would stick the first Avengers film in there also. As for TFA, the first hour is great but then it sort of falls apart for the second half. the effects take a dive, Red Skull is not very interesting nor easy to take seriously. Action feels rushed (could be because of Montage). It's still good but I would not really put it any higher then the two Thor Movies and call I slightly above average.

AOU belongs in the basement with IM2 and 3.

I think putting Deadpool with TDKR is fair... I would also stick the majority of X-men films there also.

Late to the party but my least favorite cbm of 2016. I gave BvS a second viewing but I don't feel the need with this one. Quicksilver scenes were great, Jean "letting go" was cool but everything else including Weapon X was average or far below it. Was hoping for better...

Jye and Khev are trying really hard to elevate Cap’s movies :lol

TWS and CW are nowhere near the greatness of BB and TDK. The first Avenger doesn’t even rank in the top 5 MCU films. People still think Avengers is a great movie?
