Cap's best moments were in Seoul IMO and when challenging Stark right before the Vision woke up. Yeah, "language" was dumb (more of Whedon making him the butt of jokes) and there was some silliness at the end but at least he didn't look like an idiot in that movie.

Going have to watch it again. But if I remember correctly. Cap was my favorite part of that film. That is not saying much though.

The worst part about Batman Begins is the villain's plan...which makes no sense. They have been contaminating the city water for a long time but they need a microwave emitter to vaporize the water for the toxic to work. I guess in a city of millions of people, no one boils water or takes a hot shower :lol There should thousands of people going crazy...even the guy selling the hot dogs to the corrupt cop was boiling water and you could see the vapor :slap

I don't mind goofy villain plans. I mean the whole helicarrier plot from TWS was almost something out of Moonraker. But if everything else is played straight those over the top scenarios can be great fun. I also don't think that "stop the bomb/race against time" scenarios ever get old.

I don't mind dumb movies, but some people act like Batman Begins is some kind of untouchable master piece created by Nolan...who is all about "realism"...and the film is just as dumb as any other popcorn movie. The same goes for TDK and TDKR. Still, I'll take TDKR over BB easily.

Oh and thanks for the info on those X-Men trades kara. When the time comes to jump into those I'll probably start with the early stuff and then move into some of those specific events you mentioned. Of course I was familiar with DOFP but not so much those other two.

I will have to watch AOU again and just focus on Cap.. I remember him looking more CGI then any other film and I hated the "what did you say, I didn't hear you" smack talk he did to one of the Ultron drones.. Blah.. I mean really?? third grade comebacks.. Should of had a "stop hitting yourself" moment in there somewhere also...

He also has the stupid jump reverse flip over a drone during the Money shot of the Avengers fighting the Drones in Slow motion.. In caps defense.. That whole scene blows chunks.

So true. As for the CGI Cap, there are moments in TWS and Avengers that stick out my mind more than AoU.

Love his uniform in AoU. It's about as perfect as you can get in a superhero film.

No argument there with regard to TFA compared to TWS and CW. But I do like Batman Begins the most out of the Dark Knight trilogy.

I actually did like "I'm not going to kill you but I don't have to save you," the fact that the aspect ratio wasn't changing every other second, that it didn't have a jarringly different Rachel than what came before, he has a decent "Batvoice," that he actually used live bats as cover, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I like Bale Batman the best in Begins for all the reasons you mention (as well as the superior Begins costume, well, minus the hideous dishwashing gloves :lol). I just meant as movies overall you know.

Dear lord I feel bad for all of your taste buds :lol

Nitpicking Batman Begins to elevate TFA is just sad :slap

None of those things for Batman Begins that I listed are nitpicking, and I'm certainly not putting it down to put First Avenger up on a pedestal (I crticized parts of that too). There's a lot of stupid **** that goes on in the last half of Begins. It's not a very strong last act. Same problem with The First Avenger. Begins really is cheesy and kind of cliche when you break it down.

Best origin movies that are solid the whole way through in all three acts in my opinion are Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hellboy, and of course, the OG, Superman: the movie (minus that terrible reverse time Earth spinning BS).

I love the first hour of Batman Begins, and Bale, and Cillian Murphy and Neeson, and the training in the mountains and Bruce becoming Batman, but I never thought it was this untouchable movie. It's silly as hell when the microwave emitter pops up and you hear Batman getting smug before he fights a bunch of ninjas in zoomed in crazy cam action while Gordon is driving around chasing the same train. It's just dumb. The extra/minor characters in the Nolan Bat movies are the worst too, and they flood that last act with unnecessary scenes.

Jeez I'd forgotten about that. Teenage Mutant Ninja Cap.

Based on the list you made, most of that was nitpicking though.

Why is it silly for Batman to get smug? Gordon driving around hinders the movie in what way?

Which extra/minor characters? If you're talking most of the pedestrians and stuff, then yea I can agree they're as bad as any superhero movie, but the main cast in these movies are a notch above any other superhero movie out there. People like to say Nolan's films are super serious but that's not totally true, especially with Begins and Rises, his movies arent like MOS, or the Amazing Spiderman films, they have a bunch of heart, they're not as bleak as those films.

What's goofy about Batman Begins third act?

I really like the realism pushed forward by BB but the microwave emitter at the end really stood out like a sore thumb. It's worse than any of the technological macguffin plot devices in a Star Trek episode.

As far as TFA goes, I agree the first half was good. I'm not a Cap fan (or wasn't a Cap fan prior to WS) but I liked that part of the movie. It all fell apart for me when they started doing the montages. To me TFA was better as a 2-parter and it felt rushed because they wanted to get it on with The Avengers.

As far as this movie goes... it's funny we spent the last couple of pages talking about a ton of other comic book movies other than this one. :rotfl

Hey this movie was pretty damn good. Best showcase of the xmen actually going all out with there powers yet (except wolvie). Really good movie in my eyes.
