I think Hiddleston has as much talent if not more than some of the X-Men actors you've listed, but other than that I agree. Robert Downey Jr. is fantastic as Ironman, but I'm not sure he has much range.

Downey was great in IM1, but after that he dropped the tiny bit of Stark persona he had in IM1 and went full Downey. People are loving it though so I can't blame him.

I haven't seen Hiddleston in much, but he was great in the first Thor, after that Marvel pretty much made him a one dimensional villain.

Evans is absolutely miscast as Cap, and really doesn't bring nothing to the role.

Hemsworth I'm unsure of, I don't know if he's a subpar actor, or if he's just starring in subpar Thor films, but Hiddleston is definitely the star of those movies.

Samuel Jackson is Samuel Jackson, that's either a good or a bad thing depending on who you talk too.

Scarlett like Evans is totally miscast, I'm actually shocked people think she's doing a great job.

For the side characters I think Mackie is doing a decent job with Falcon based on his charisma alone and Renner has untapped potential as Hawkeye. Don Cheadle is a HUGE step down from Terrance Howard as Rhodey. I actually think Cheadle is a better actor but he's probably the most miscast actor currently playing a superhero, though I think that'll change once I see Ezra Miller suit up for Flash.

If you're going to go there, every character in every superhero movie is one dimensional, including TDK Joker.

The ones you think are not one dimensional, well you're just being fooled.

Hell, LOTR and Raiders of the Lost Ark have one dimensional characters.

But Loki wasn't one dimensional in Thor. The Avengers ruined him.

I'm kind of the opposite of you though, I enjoy the spectacle but an actors performance plays a huge part on whether I love a film or not.

You want multilayered, just look in the mirror.

Impossible for that level of humanity to be portrayed in a 1.5 to 4 hour movie, especially in one where action is also required.

Thank god, I don't want to be bored while watching a movie. :lol

What you believe are multilayered characters are really not, so just enjoy the splosions. :lol

I think the best movies combine both. I don't need a superhero movie to be like a Shakespeare play, but it won't hurt for a superhero film to focus on other things besides the action and spectacle.

If Samuel Jackson is playing himself in the Marvel movies, then Patric Stewart sure as hell played himself as Picard in X-Men. If Chris Evans is miscast as Captain America, then, man, what the **** is up with Hugh Jackman? He ain't short, hairy, or rough and the only thing he brought to the role were F-bombs (and maybe X-Men Origins).

So who does that leave? Robert Downey Jr. playing himself, and Mcavoy playing Lt. Dan? Well ****, as good as they are on screen, none of those personalities are like comics Tony or comics Stark?

Evans figuring out that he was being ambushed in the elevator in TWS is one of the best character moments of any cbm.

Crazy talk that CE wasn't cut out for Cap.

I think he has played more Superheros than anyone else.

He was all of the FF4 and Cap, so 5 Superheros he has portrayed, you nerds are just jealous. :lol

Man, we were typing this at the same time. :lol

I agree, still doesn't mean she doesn't do a ****** job at playing the character. Jennifer Lawrence just happens to be slightly worse.

Mcavoy, Fassbender, Jackman, Stewart, McKellen, Peters > Chris Evans, Tom Hiddleston, Robert Downey, Sam Jackson, Robert Redford, Aaron Taylor Johnson

Singer and Vaughn > Whedon, Russos, Gunn

You didn't just drink the Kool-aide you drank the whole vat! :lol

I loved that scene. :rock

But I do think it's tied for Wolverine's bar scene in X1. :lecture

He was one of the Losers (I think) and a guy in Scott Pilgrim. Dude owes his career to comic books :lol

Hugh still has the look, voice, attitude, and I think he’s rough whatever you mean by that :lol

Evans only has the look, and I’m talking miscast based on their talent and what they can bring to the character. Evans isn’t a good actor, and he really doesn’t bring much to the role of Cap. It’s not like a Keaton being cast as Batman, or Jackman as Wolverine where they are a bit different from the source material but they make it up in various ways. They make a great “other” version of their characters. Evan’s is bland, boring and dull, and most importantly he does a poor job at conveying the leadership aspect Cap.

Mcavoy might look like LT Dan, but he and Fassbender are doing a great job at playing their characters, Mcavoy was written purposely not to act anything like Professor X yet.

I’ve never watched Star Trek but maybe Picard’s character is similar to Professor X, I don’t know, but aside from the british accent he plays his role perfect.

I’m not familiar with the Ultimate version of Cap, maybe Chris Evans is more like that version.
