Chris Evans is not terrible as CA, but lets just say he won't be difficult to replace with a new actor eventually. RDJ as Stark, that's going to be a tough one, but Evans? Just about any pretty boy can play that role, maybe even better.
I wouldn't go that far, but I agree Steve Rogers would be easier to recast than RDJ Stark. And I'm sure there are guys out there who can rival Evans, but it's really hard for me to imagine someone doing significantly better. He is Steve Rogers, right out of the comic.

Sophie Turner On Playing 'Jean Grey' And 'Emulating' Famke Janssen In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Sophie Turner was in attendance of the Screen Actors Guild Awards tonight in Los Angeles, where she spoke, for the first time, about being cast as Jean Grey in next year's X-Men: Apocalypse. More specifically, when Access Hollywood asked where she was when director Bryan Singer had made the announcement on Twitter, the English actress reveals she was on her way to an audition. "I was getting out of the car to walk in to the audition," she said. "And then my agent started ringing and she was like 'Have you heard the news?' 'No, what news?' Then she was like 'Check your Twitter'. So then I checked it and… I was just getting like, 'Congratulations Jean Grey.' Then I just started crying and I messed up the whole audition because I was just like, 'I can't speak!'" Turner later said she has no idea when filming starts, but she has seen Famke Janssen's portrayal of Jean Grey in the previous X-Men movies. "She was amazing," she said. "So, I'm really trying to emulate her, because she did such a great job and I just hope I do justice to this incredible character." Before the interview had wrapped up, Sophie Turner said "It should be fun" to to play Jean Grey opposite actor Tye Sheridan, who was announced as Scott Summers aka Cyclops. Anyhow, watch video of the interview below, and also check out the latest X-Men: Apocalypse fan art by BossLogic which offers a look at Sophie Turner as Jean while also in her Phoenix persona. What do you think?

VIDEO: Alexandra Shipp Teases 'Storm' Preparations For X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Announced last week to be playing the 1980s iteration of Halle Berry's Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse, Alexandra Shipp took to Instagram last night to reveal how she's currently preparing for the role. "You might be wondering what someone would do when they're sick on a Saturday night...", she says in the video before falling into a pile of comics and yelling, "homework!" In addition to some old X-Men comics, there are some issues of the recent "Storm" solo series by writer Greg Pak in Shipp's collection. Thanks to a heads up via Vixen Varsity, check out the quick vid below, along with cool fan art (by BossLogic) featuring Alexandra Ship as Storm further down. What do you think?

Unpopular opinion but I never really liked scarjo's portrayal as black widow. I dont like the short hair look and the golden looped belt was always good to me. She just seems very dull to me everytime she is onscreen showing a little emotion and I know she is a assassin, But the black widow from the cartoons I watched was sort of sassy and sort of upbeat and the Russian accent was always really cool. I think I liked her best in EMH

I agree, it's a shame Emily Blunt had to turn down the role.

Scarlett was better in Cap 2 but i'm already tired of her character. Black Widow is not that interesting in comparison to the other characters. Thank god there is a new female in Avengers 2 and Captain Marvel will show up eventually.

I wonder how Oscar will look like as Apocalypse-- he mentioned the suit would be cgi --

I wonder this interpretation. Oscar kinda seems a bit too tiny to play Apoc.. But what they did with Josh Brolin as Thanos is probably what we will end up with. I like the wrist tattoos

Hes got a nice jawline to play Apocalypse, just not the stature or body

In other news, looks like Fox is unveiling an Xmen tv show live action

Well there is the Rock & Idris Elba

Very big and talented actors. Nothing against Oscar-- im glad a true fanboy got cast as the leading anatagonist for the source material. I just think hes too much of a pretty boy. Didnt strike me as Apocalypse but then again when i was told Beetlejuice was gonna be Batman i didnt expect to be as pleasantly surprised

You would probably hate Evans’ Cap too if you knew how much more awesome Cap is in the comics.

Well as someone who has been reading Captain America for longer than you've been alive I'm going to have to say that you're wrong there. Comic Cap isn't really "so much more awesome" as he is simply larger than life. Steve in the comics is like Dutch in Predator. Enormous guy, a larger than life badass who has the stature and presence to boss around other larger than life badasses in a way that no one questions. No one says, "Well I guess you're calling the shots now Dutch." No, he talks and people listen. And for that to translate on screen you really would need an American equivalent to Arnold. Which doesn't really exist or hasn't yet at least.

But Evans really captures everything about Steve/Cap except that mammoth larger than life presence. And I'm okay with that. There are some things in comics that really don't translate to real life, or are exceedingly difficult to the point of being virtually impossible. I'm not saying that we can't get a *better* Cap at some point but right now Evans really has become an icon in the role. It's incredibly hard for a young actor to be the moral center of a group, usually that role is given to older people like Dale or Hershel in The Walking Dead. But Evans pulls it off amazingly well. I really believe that when he gives a speech guys twice his age like SLJ really would be inclined to pause and take it to heart.

And while not massively bulky Evans does look "super" enough and the parkour acrobatics is a fantastic approximation of how Cap fights in the comics. I'm glad that the character was introduced to a global audience on Evans' watch. Now any future actors will only need to maintain or emulate the foundation that Evans already established. He'll be a great point of reference for all future castings/recastings.

Evan's stature isn't the problem, it's his acting ability. He comes across as way too passive, and a major problem is his voice. He sounds absolutely nothing how I would expect Captain America to sound. I was watching TWS just yesterday and one of the scenes that really stood out in a bad way, is when Falcon asks how do they tell the bad guys from the good, Evans's sounded like a teenager when he responds, nothing like a badass all american soldier that has fought a ton of wars. When Cap eventually gets recasted I'm sure nobody will be missing Evans.

Take Batman for example, we have yet to get a huge buff Arnold-esque Batman from the comics on the big screen, and at least up until Batfleck, we've only had short, skinny, "puny"actors play Batman, but they were good enough actors to make us see past their physical flaws.

pturtle makes a good point, commanding voice Evans does not have in battle.

But I loved his facial expressions in that elevator.

Ultimately his thinner voice is not enough to ruin him as Cap.

Good try though you DOFP sloot you. :lol

Rep me now DF. :lol

Hahaha

It's doesn't, I like Evans, and he's obviously doing something right since everyone is pretty much loving the character right now, but it hurts my soul when I know there's a much better Steve Rogers walking around out there.

And Keaton rocks!

Now throw some rep my way as well Keaton sloot.

I had already addressed that. The "how do we know the good guys from the bad/if they're shooting at you they're bad" exchange could have easily been something that Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnold said to each other in True Lies. Arnold isn't a better actor than Evans (far from it), he's just larger than life in a way that sells those exchanges a little better.

An amazing aspect that Evans brings to the role of Cap, and one that I would never have expected or anticipated, is that he retains elements of "skinny Steve," even as Cap. And why wouldn't he? He's the same guy! In the comics we just know him as this awesome Mr. Olympia type who runs around commanding everyone with great authority. And I really like that. Any reference to his life pre-serum gets maybe a panel or two of flashback mention every few years or so at best.

But one thing that my wife mentioned after we saw TFA was that she had a hard time seeing him as a "hunk" after his transformation because he so cemented himself as the scrawny version of himself. Which is actually pretty amazing since buff Cap was the "real" Chris Evans. If creating totally unity with a big and smaller CG/body double version of yourself isn't capable acting then I don't know what is. That's just a real place where Evans shines. Even when he's pounding people into snot in TFA and TWS he still wins you over by making you almost feel like you're still rooting for the underdog. Because you were with him in the beginning and he sold it so convincingly.

I think to really highlight the commanding and imposing aspect of his character for future films they really should shy away from recapping too much of his origin. Don't focus so much on an actor capable of playing a dual role and just go balls out with a more larger than life version. Then he'll "feel" a little more like the comics, even if Evans' take will forever hold it's own on it's own merits.

I gave Khev some rep for his post earlier. :)

Thanks DiFabio and Snoop. :duff

I don't think I was on the board the day they announced Sophie as Jean, so let me just say I am EXTREMELY happy she got the role. It bums me out though that there is like 0% chance that I will ever get a Hot Toys figure of her though. :(

Here's some beautiful photos of Sophie from the new Town & Country magazine. :love :love

Rose Byrne To Return As 'Moira MacTaggert' In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

We recently discovered who will play Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse. However, another new casting addition has now been made, but it just so happens to be a very familiar face! Reprising her role from X-Men: First Class, Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids) is set to return as Moira MacTaggert. When we last saw her, her memory had been wiped by Charles Xavier in order to protect his school. She was nowhere to be seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past as a result.

Writer Simon Kinberg confirmed the news while talking to EW, revealing: "She’s a significant character in the movie. We ended First Class with Charles having wiped portions of her memory of her experience with the X-Men. They are, essentially, strangers to her when she meets them." As for how her relationship with Xavier will now play out, he added, "It’s certainly a rich relationship that we started to dig into in First Class, and would like to mine more in this one."

It sounds like they have a good reason for bringing her back as X-Men: Apoclypse will apparently serve as an endpoint for the characters we met in X-Men: First Class. "This movie is the completion of the first arcs of Charles, Eric, Raven, and Hank, who are essentially our main characters," Kinberg explains. "They’re such young actors and young characters, so there’s a lot more story to tell. But as a first phase of their lives, there is this feeling of closure by the end of the movie." Could this mean we'll get a new trilogy without those characters? We'll have to wait and see!

Great news!
