Hugh still has the look, voice, attitude, and I think he’s rough whatever you mean by that

Evans only has the look, and I’m talking miscast based on their talent and what they can bring to the character. Evans isn’t a good actor, and he really doesn’t bring much to the role of Cap. It’s not like a Keaton being cast as Batman, or Jackman as Wolverine where they are a bit different from the source material but they make it up in various ways. They make a great “other” version of their characters. Evan’s is bland, boring and dull, and most importantly he does a poor job at conveying the leadership aspect Cap.

Mcavoy might look like LT Dan, but he and Fassbender are doing a great job at playing their characters, Mcavoy was written purposely not to act anything like Professor X yet.

I’ve never watched Star Trek but maybe Picard’s character is similar to Professor X, I don’t know, but aside from the british accent he plays his role perfect.

I’m not familiar with the Ultimate version of Cap, maybe Chris Evans is more like that version.

The only difference between Picard and Professor X, is the wheelchair Also, I disagree with Evans looking the part. He doesn't look right, imo, and that silly wig he wears doesn't help either. You’re basing that on their one film that came out the same year as Singer’s which wasn’t even close to being better?

He was one of the Losers (I think) and a guy in Scott Pilgrim. Dude owes his career to comic books

I think he looks a little more like the Ultimate version.

Yea his hairpiece was horrible, but I think his makeup looked even worse. He looked like he was getting ready to do a talk show throughout the whole movie

But hey, the action was badass so we don’t get to nitpick any of that right?


I honestly think Fassbender and Mcavoy smoke the old timers, like Jye said before, all they really did was sit down and talk for most of the movies they were in.

Maybe it's not Evans you find bland, boring and dull, but Captain America in general. That kind of old school, old fashioned character can be a bit of a bore. I don't read no stinkin' comics so I don't know if he's channeling ultimate Cap or my granddaddies Cap. All I know is, he's Cap to me. He'd curb stomp Mcavoy and Flassbender and get some 90 year old poon after a thousand drinks (cuz of that healing factor) with Logan.

I'd say these castings are pretty damn spot on. Evans was seekerd specifically for the looks, and he does a good job at appealing to older audience with his 40's game, and is still doing a rather humorous job as a modern day cap. Also consider the fact that he hasn't led a team since Avengers. He only has led the Commandos and that is an early on kind of thing, then he leads the Avengers but is butting heads with Tony. I think AoU will really show why Evans got the role of Cap.

All I know is, Capt better get laid in Age of Ultron. He's been in 3 films and still he gets no "poon". Just a quick scene of him in a motel and a woman in bed sleeping gets the job done and it says, he's not a 90 year old virgin, not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's about time.

Evans Cap is cool. I don't think he's a godsend for the character or "the best portrayal of a comic book character evar", but I don't see what's lame about him. He embodies what Captain America is, I think. I was just watching Fantastic 4 last week and I couldn't believe that the same guy that is now this stoic Cap was that douchey little Human Torch. I was also one of those people that was like "wut, that ****** is gonna be Cap, he sux" until I saw him in action. From weird CGI skinny humble weak Steve, to "nuthin' I'm just a kid from Brooklyn" to the elevator scene in WS to the "I'm with ya to the end of the line", he's done a good job.

Scarlett Johansson? She was nothing to write home about initially. She was in Iron Man 2 just as eye candy. However, as she gets more to do in each film, she gets better and better. So I don't think it's her as much as it is the material she's given. I don't see what the problem with her is. Atleast she's in small doses with little arcs, unlike Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique who is over used because she sells. Yeah, Scar Jo doesn't have a Russian accent, she still seemed convincing in the beginning with those Russian mob guys or when she's telling the Russian ghost story of the Winter Soldier.

I'm someone who has read countless Cap comics, and Evans is an excellent Cap. I agree with Fabio's point that if you don't like Evans as Cap, you probably just don't like Cap.

Black Widow is overused, and Scarlett sells which is why they’re overusing her.

I’ll have to agree to disagree with you on Evans, I actually thought he was fine in the first half of TFA but once he became Cap he just couldn’t sell it to me.

Well, I’m living proof that isn’t true. I’ve always said the way he’s written in the movies is almost perfect, but Evans’ performance isn’t in my opinion.

Chris Evans is not terrible as CA, but lets just say he won't be difficult to replace with a new actor eventually. RDJ as Stark, that's going to be a tough one, but Evans? Just about any pretty boy can play that role, maybe even better.

Unpopular opinion but I never really liked scarjo's portrayal as black widow. I dont like the short hair look and the golden looped belt was always good to me. She just seems very dull to me everytime she is onscreen showing a little emotion and I know she is a assassin, But the black widow from the cartoons I watched was sort of sassy and sort of upbeat and the Russian accent was always really cool. I think I liked her best in EMH
