Why does everything go to ledger ? He played the part well cause the screenplay was great it isn't all him .Routh just got dealt a bad hand the script sucked he couldn't make superman his own .

I liked Ledger, but I don't think he's the end all be all of every Joker incarnation.

I used to really hate Superman Returns, but it's grown on my a little over time.

I said that about Routh but I actually love Superman Returns, but I don’t like to bring it up a lot or whatever else you like becomes questioned :lol

Ledger gets the praise because he put a lot of work and dedication into the character. Sure he was written like that, but he also brought a lot of his own into that character, and he won an oscar for a superhero film.

It isn’t like Robert Downey, who took the character of Tony Stark, and made him Robert Downey, and is praised by the world. I seriously think Downey gets more love then Ledger.

I understand the allure, but some people treat TDK Joker like a religion.

Nothing wrong with that, why can’t someone appreciate Heath’s Joker like you do Snake Plissken?

He did a great job in the role and is praised for it. His death made the performance even more iconic. Same of Brandon Lee and the Crow.

Nothing wrong with recasting him, but a role like how Heath played Joker would be tough. It isn’t like recasting Paul Walker in the FF franchise. The Joker is a lot tougher to play I would assume and a lot more iconic. These days Heath’s Joker, is just as popular as the Joker himself or slightly less.

It could actually hinder the movie more than help it if they would have recasted him, especially if he wasn’t needed.

Brandon Routh still takes heat for being a Reeves impersonation, even though he was recasted almost 30 years later.

Only by stupid morons who just don't get that he was supposed to be impersonating Reeve. Spacey blatantly and flawlessly impersonating Hackman should've been the big, obvious clue. :lol

I don't worship Plissken. People can like him or hate him, it's no skin off my sack. But people take Batman on it's own very seriously, and with Ledger it's an even more sensitive subject. As I said, I understand the allure. But some people can be scary with how much they idolize him.

I know he was supposed to, but a lot of people are upset about that. It is almost an unfair position to be in, when a nobody has to impersonate an icon. High probability of nothing but hate will follow. And a lot of that happened with Routh in my opinion.

Yea, I haven’t experienced that yet :lol

I’m in the minority of people who liked Bane more than Joker in the movies.

:exactly::goodpost:

It was the top thing I liked about the film :lol

It is kind of like David Hayter and Kiefer. Kiefer was getting an incredible amount of hate before anyone even heard him. Just trying to say it is always hard to follow up on an icon’s work. And I think casting JGL just because he looks like Heath wouldn’t have been the best decision partly because of that. Especially so soon after.

Disagree 100% Routh was more than accepted as Reeve's replacement, it was the horrid script and rehashed real estate storyline that hurt Returns.

Hayter has been driving that bus for 20 years now almost, he is Snake through and through. I don't want to ruin another thread with needless arguing on that subject that we've beaten to death.

I’m not big on Hayter anymore voicing Snake. I am glad he’s gone.

Man is the X-Men thread deviating, lets all just agree to disagree.
