Oh, and nice comparison pix GB. Why is he so much shorter than ROTJ Luke?

They're the same, I think the ROTJ Luke was a little closer to the camera. Although the ROTJ head sculpt is larger than the Yavin.

Okay, that makes sense.

As someone that runs a business and has to colormatch lots of stuff, yes.

Anything else?

The stuff you do may be easier.

Niether of us has the facts so you don't know and I don't.

That's all I have to say on it. :)

Is it a little square patch? I've got that on my neck as well... I figured it was a molding issue.

And about my comment that it can always be worse, I don't mean to downplay that the figure could be better. However, if you collect 1/6 you typically have to assume that you aren't going to get an exact replication. I think that he is close enough and I'm happy with the figure.

But, this isn't a key outfit for me so I can understand how it might irk you more.

Mine has that little patch, plus a long slash line that goes almost to his adam's apple just on that side. It looks like the person cutting it loose slipped with the knife.

I try my best not to be *too* picky, but this Luke is just a bundle of errors, and it was a key outfit for me, so it really sours things. He just looks nothing like the Luke in the movie to me.

You want a material made in a specific color, you can get it.

$$$ gets anything you want.

That is true. But if it costs a company more $$$ to get what they want it is the consumer who has to shoulder the expense... and I don't wanna see these figs rise in cost. I would like all my figs to be perfect, but.... well, you know....

:rotfl Wow, so you think no one can make color fabric to match color fabric that was made for a jacket lol?

And you teach?

It's a "meh, it's close enough, no one will notice" thing, plain and simple.

If it's $5 more so be it. I'll pay what it costs for a high quality figure.

That's not what I said. Learn to read.

So don't go questioning my ability to do my job.

just got mine and i have to say i am pretty underwhelmed. sure it's another proto to finished product gripe but it was bad enough for me to open the box and have that WTH moment. more than anything though i think i will stave off most of the pre-ordering from now on and wait and pick it up once it hits the market and i can see 'in hand' products.

I want a cup of what Josh is drinking:cool:

Blind devotion must kick ass. I can only imagine whats its like to look at all my SS figures and see nothing wrong.

I've got shelves full of SS figures, but I'm not going to ignore their faults and obvious corner cutting or flat out ignored problems.

Having your face ripped off in a car accident will do that to ya...

Although I guess its very vague as to how extensive his injuries really were.

I read in the Making of Star Wars book that he was in surgery from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for his injuries.

Regardless of the extent of his injuries, you can't watch the trilogy and not see a dramatic difference, between his hair getting darker with age and his face change, it'd be hard to believe ANH and ROTJ were same person looking at just photos if his eyes weren't so very distinct.

... sucks that I'm waiting for mine due to waiting for it to be shipped with the Legacy Lazenby... But thanks for the pictures guys--

And Josh and EVILFACE, :lsvader thanks for the entertainment.

looks like the round squished face/ head again..only looks good in shadowed pics or like the jedis..hooded! i have noticed this with the 12" ers..the premium format seem to elongate the face as they need to be..the 12" seem to always have "more face" and not enough from eyebrow to top of head. and a little disappointed that the star wars outfits dont have the right fabric all the time(ie ceremony coat) its all the same generic cotton :(

Yeah, but that's not a good enough excuse (at least for me) to purchase an item. That just means there are multiple products I should avoid. Even if the SS is the best one so far, if it doesn't really "pop" for me, I don't need it. I'd rather have none than compromise.

I'm sorry, SS could have done a LOT better. This figure is not even close. The jacket isn't even the right color or texture. I want better. I would pay twice SS price for one that really looks like the movie.

Only problem there is you would be one of the very few who would pay 120 bucks. I don't care if it was on a Hot Toys or Medicom body with a perfect miniature outfit ... SSC's warehouse would still be full of those figures at a price like that.

I really think I am seeing the problem here (and, by that, I mean perspective, not some personal slight at anyone). Many of you guys are the extreme type. You really would spend 150 - 400 bucks on a custom figure you saw as "perfect". Only problem is that you are in the minority. And if a company such as Sideshow catered to your price point, they would be out of business in a couple of months. These figures have to be at a certain price point in order to sale ... which makes the item profitable ... which makes the crazy cost of the license worth it. Best example is the Hot Toy's Rocky figure SSC is releasing. I love Rocky. I also felt the Hot Toys figure looked great. However, there was no way I was going to pay 150 dollars for him ... no matter how much I liked the piece. In all fairness, the 99.99 SSC is asking is still rather high for a muscle body with shorts, shoes, belt, and robe. However, they managed to stay below my price point of 100 so I ordered it. SSC Star Wars is the same situation. They can spend the money to make them "perfect" ... but no one would buy the figure. In fact, I bet many of the same people here who complain about the quality now would switch to moaning and griping about the cost if this ever happened. Basic business tenant - "If you can't get anyone to buy your product, it doesn't matter how amazing it is."

And, while I have accuse jlcmsu of being a SSC junkie in the past, he still has a point. For a convention exclusive at 60 bucks, the figure is pretty good. It's not perfect ... true. Not many of these pieces are. However, not many people are willing to pay the "perfect" price. So, the cosmic scale is balanced.

I am sorry if some of you are not happy with this Luke. But it's still a decent piece in my opinion.

P.S. This thread is also not the first time I have seen some idiot bash JL for being a teacher. Well, how about you try doing the job or shut the hell up. How does his job affect his opinion? In what way does sitting in front of a computer screen give you any knowledge of his skill or ability? If you (and I mean that in a generic "everyone who sinks to this level" tone) can't debate his opinion without resorting to personal insults, you really shouldn't bother typing a response.
