Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021
Can we just rename this thread the DC haters thread? I dont get the argument the project is trash cause its not going to the theaters. Was the Mandolorian TV show trash? No it was better than tthe ****ing st trilogy by miles. How bout all those mcu characters being regulated to tvs shows bucky and falcon, wanda vision ext. what a joke for marvel not to put these on the big screen. Those characters are meant to be on the big screen right?? Not to mention the phase 4 movies all sound like crap, the only one that intrigues me is thor 4 but its going to shoe horn in jane as lady thor which is not appealing at all to me. Biased hypocrites for the win
Zack did not want to deal with warners motion picture division again and their silly demands or limitations on run time. He can finally release the movie he intended all along. Its also a good middle ground for warner, imagine how bad they would look if this was released in the theater and its was way better than their hackjob cut. Granted alot of those big wigs are gone now but it still makes the company look really bad. By doing it this way they minimize the backlash a bit by having it air on a different medium, so direct comparisons cannot be fully made. If gl was ever to release his 4 hour revenge of sith cut i guarantee it wouldn't be in the theaters, it would be on disney plus. Im sure its much better than what we got you can tell there is alot cut from it especially when anakin storms the temple. Very jarring cuts in that scene indicate alot was probably cut -it goes from Anakin walking up to the temple with his legion of clones and then straight to the master skwyalker what should we do scene. That implies that gl cut alot of cool **** from that scene, you know anakin actually fighting and killing jedi (the **** we wanted to see) not just little kids off screen. I have no idea why george cut those scenes and not the anakin padme balcony scene my god it was so unnecessary and cringe worthy
Lets be honest here these run time limitations studios place on directors ruin alot of movies (rise of skywalker, justice league, bvs, star wars rots, suicide squad, just to name a few recent ones). For rots, gl was his own worst enemy but the longer the movie is the less it can replay in a day therefore less revenue. I wouldnt be surprised if movie theaters and his finance people coerced him into chopping it up. Had these run time limitations been in place back in the day we never would have gotten movies like apocalypse now, gone with the wind, gettysburg, lawrence of arabia, Ben Her, lord of the rings return of the king, the godfather part 2. Can you imagine what studios would have done to those movie in todays world, hack them to bits. If they continue to impose these limitations netflix, hbo max disney plus is their best bet to get their vision out there without interference. The studio imposed limitations and meddling are why martin scorsese released the irishman on netflix, it was too long a run time for the studios and he refused to edit its run time or hackup his movie. Maybe zack was fired because he refused to change his movie to suit warners crazy demands- so in came whedon the yes man with his i just dont give a **** attitude since it will have zacks name attached not mine. For studios its not about quality its about how many times the movie can replay in a day and how many showing it has. The math is simple, shorter movie means more showtimes and potential ticket sales and more revenue, longer movie means less projected daily revenue due to less showtimes and ticket sales. Its all about maximizing profits on every movie. The streamers like hbo, disney, netflix dont care about run time only subscriptions. Runtime does not effect their revenue at all
On another note, due to covid 19 movie theaters will not be operating at full capacity for a long time. Studios cannot recoup money now just by releasing them in theaters, they will need to have concurrent releases via itunes vudu rentals
