Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Batman/Wayne was bitter, brutal and cynical in BvS, but he wasn?t tired or broken, and be sure as hell did not want to hang his cape... As for JL, let?s wait and see what the Snydercut brings...

Idk. Dude seemed pretty exhausted and just fed up until superman breathes new life into him

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Don?t get too excited the word is that the extra role of him as Batman and Wayne will be used sparingly in a manner to show what was and what would be in a multiverse type scenario.

Are you referring to Keaton or Affleck?

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Since WB is so flexible with their movies nowadays by having so many different Batman universes, why not get a new actor to play Superman and start all over again? Cavill is tainted beyond repair, imo. Cap America has overtaken him as the American hero, but also the better "superman" in this era of films. Then you have Homelander from The Boys tv show. He's easily a better evil Superman than Snyder's upcoming black suit Superman. I would just get a new Superman, and keep Cavill in the Snyderverse along with Battfleck, if he comes back.

Speaking of Superman as THE American hero, I haven't seen one photo of Cavill as Superman this fourth of July on any website or post on Facebook, but I have seen tons of Christopher Reeve's Sups photos, and a few of MCU Cap. That says a lot, imo.

I know the MCU is hot right now, but Cap is still the poor cousin to Supes.

I'm sure if Cavill had been the "boy scout" type he would have been labelled too idealistic for our cynical times. Snyder showed us what would REALLY go down if a Kryptonian showed up on Earth.

MOS is still my favorite Sups film, but I wouldn't mind having two actors playing Superman in different universes. I forgot there are already two tv Supermans, so maybe they can have another movie superman.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Hmmm, might be too confusing for Joe Public. But you reminded me, DC has been doing great things on the small screen.

While I'm a Snyder fan, it's a shame their big-screen efforts haven't resonated so much.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Also, re July 4 (Happy Independence Day American Freaks!!) is it possible Supes isn't as associated with "the American way" nowadays as it's un-PC?

It's a bit hard to avoid the "America" in Cap's name. Y'know I was half-surprised they didn't edit it out for the MCU and go with Star-Spangled Man or summink.

MOS, BVS, and JL made Sups more of a G-Zeus figure with religious imagery, an alien, and an outsider, over being a beloved "all American" small town guy. It also helps to have a shot of Sups with a US flag. I don't think I ever saw Cavil near a flag. :lol

True. The Smallville scenes were "down home" but overall he was more a protector of the whole planet: Day of the Dead etc.

I think that started with Superman Returns, when they left out the "American way" from, "I stand for truth, justice and the American way." I'm not sure why they felt it was inappropriate to say that in the film, but I remember people and some critics noticing that omission.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

In the John Byrne reboot of the 80s, Clark was literally "born" on American soil. The ship he was sent to earth on was a birthing chamber. So that made him an American.

As far as other reboots or different takes, he was Jonathan and Martha Kent's son. Legally. They didn't hide him from the authorities. He had a social security number and a birth certificate and all that.

I know people think they're being edgelords by suggesting that Clark is an illegal alien, but that's not the case.

Re: Zack Snyder's Justice League coming in 2021

Lol well the general consensus is that he is an alien and he wasn?t born in America. He?s not human. The world and even DC itself will portray him as an alien who crashlanded in America and is hidden away from society until he is old enough to make himself a citizen

I like that take. Superman being a red blooded American man is just silly. The guy saves the entire world on a regular basis. He?s more of a world hero now
