Exactly man, it was an amazing movie. I fell in love with the characters(mainly just Rocket, Sweet Pea, and Baby Doll) and the "emotional" part of the story was stunning in my opinion.

I honestly don't see the hate that some people have for this movie.

Same here, I was expecting to see alot of fighting, which I did, but what I didnt expect was my connection to the story. I appreciated it. I was intrigued at the idea of dressing up hotties when the underlying theme was much darker, counter to it. At the end, when the bus driver protected sweet pea...I was sold. It wasnt just about gun fighting...there was something more.

Costing $65 Million to make, and taking in almost $71 Million it's opening weekend(that's a little over $5 Million in profit)(with it's total gross revenue being: $456,068,181)

:slap

The reported $65M is "negative cost," or what Snyder spent up to the moment he delivered a final negative. The studio then spends about three times that amount on striking prints to ship to the theaters and on advertising. So the break-even point is a multiple of the negative cost of a picture.

"Sucker Punch" is not remotely near turning a profit. The industry trade papers have already written it off as a rare and surprising misstep from Snyder. With all its advance publicity, it came in behind "Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2," which had very little studio support and seemed to come out of nowhere.

So sad. Maybe if we saw baby doll shake that flat ass this movie would sky rocket to the top

Why does it matter how big a movie gets if you enjoyed it?

The average movie has to make 3 times it budget back to be a sucess.

SP is a flop.

Mars Needs Moms is a gigantic massive flop :lol

It doesn't. As long as you enjoy it, that is all that matters.

Was anybody expecting this to be a box office hit though? I wasn't and I was so hyped to see it.

Female action flicks (save Kill Bill) almost always do horrible. :(

Hit? No, but I thought it may end it's run at about 70m for the USA, prolly will stall at around 40ish world wide.

As long as i enjoy it im fine and love it but if a movie is good and critics pan it and it flops at the box office it kind of gets me upset. You want good movies to do well. Hopefully it will find its cult following

So what was she doing in reality while she danced? Anybody have any theories on that? Since the brothel aspect was a whole alternative reality, with similar situations happening in real life (like Blue getting stabbed, Sweet Pea escaping, Baby Doll starting a fire etc)

Good question.

Did you ever wonder whose reality the brothel was? I don't think it was Baby Doll's.

And did you notice that the dominant color in true reality was blue?

She could've been just dancing.

I don't think so (but maybe). I don't think it was anything overtly sexual either. The big deal about her to Blue and the High Roller was that she was a virgin.

And when she and everyone was on stage, that was Gorski's treatment.

Which is as much of a mystery as what Baby Doll was doing during the fight sequences.

It doesn't, unless you want Hot Toys figures.

Yeah, critics are frustrating. So many just jump on the bandwagon now days. I am proud to be part of its following.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 was almost guaranteed to make a crap pile of money. Those books in schools have a major major following. The school I used to work at had 12-13 copies of each book and they almost never were on the shelves. So it doing well should not shock anyone.

Also I think Sucker Punch still makes around 100 million world wide.

I do for sure....

It made sense to me...Gorski told the girls to go into their mind, and understand what the issue was...like hypnosis without all the jazz. She told them their reality will keep them safe.

And it's OK if this flick flopped. Not like it was getting a sequel anyway.

I just feel bad for Snyder. :(

So the brothel wasn't Sweet Pea's reality? Or the reality of the collective reality of all the girls? It comes across as the kind of thing they'd invent as a way of accecepting their situation. Whores in an exclusive cabaret/brothel, instead of inmates being raped in locked backrooms of a filthy asylum.

I see what you're saying about Gorski's treatment, but what were they doing while they went into their minds? Sweet Pea didn't look like she was dancing while she sat on the bed on the day Baby Doll arrived.

I don't. He got to make this movie.

Well, for Gorski's treatment, Sweat Pea aside, as she didnt actually NEED to be there...I just assumed the girls would go into their minds, and relive the moments that affected them.

And the mind thing, I think it was just Baby Doll's. She is constructing her own world inside of the real one. So the other girls arent really affected by the Brothel world, but Baby Doll is. She's basicly controlling all the word play, all the extra actions....but the events are the same.

So for example, Blue trying to have sex with Baby Doll in the dressing room, would actually be where the girls would go for safety. Perhaps the basement? Not sure.

And maybe they did dance around and ____ to suduce the guards, like the cook, and the lighter man. But Baby Doll saw it in a hyper reality.

Just my look on it.

Also, nothing makes a filmmaker sadder then if their film isnt loved. He made it, but a lot of people didnt like it. So that's what I was getting at.

I guess. I dont know, i'm not Zack Snyder. I'm just speaking from myself. I would feel bad. My goal as a filmmaker is to make people happy. Yeah, I am doing it for myself, but to give joy to many people, is a really good feeling.

It's what I felt after I did that ____ YEAH Captain America thing. It felt good.
