Great idea with that helmet/head combo! Don't worry about brush strokes, it adds a certain level of realism to the figure in my opinion.Hey guys @Skull Knight @KitbashOfficer @majorzero64 @Gipetto0812 @Predfred you guys and several others on this forum have inspired me to do more in regards to modifications and customizations than I would have ever believed I would when I started this hobby in 2017.
As I have stated before Thor is my favorite character and I was excited about getting the Love and Thunder figure even though I knew there were some things about the prototype (as seen in the film) I didn’t like so much.
That said, when he arrived I a few days ago knew that I was going to put the modified AOU head with helmet from Thor 1 on him. I had this head previously on my Thor the Dark World (Heavy Armor) figure. It was my very first Hot Toy so it holds a special place for me. However, that head does not work on the Love & Thunder neck because it has a magnetic attachment. So that meant another drastic head modification that I wanted to avoid.
I think I flew a little “too close to the sun” when I decided to paint over the gold part of his chest plate. My eyes and hands have aged and it shows, also I forgot to thin out my paint as I should have so I have some visible brush strokes. So maybe I had become a little over confident about what I can do.
At any rate, despite the flaws (mine) I really love this figure now and he is now much more representative of what I would consider a definitive Thor for my collection. I just put a couple pics on the figure link but wanted to share more here as I think it’s more appropriate.
Oh, wow, first layer in silver is a great idea!!Great idea with that helmet/head combo! Don't worry about brush strokes, it adds a certain level of realism to the figure in my opinion.
When it comes to painting armor, especially from one color to another, I usually paint it silver first. It not only covers up the previous color but makes it look like battle wear once you've put on a coat of the actual desired finish color.
Thanks a lot @Gipetto0812!Really nice work @Omega9300 do you prefer him holding stormbreaker or mjolnir?
I still have a diecast AOU hammer waiting to be used with a new Thor figure since I’m sure HT is done with the diecast hammers. I’m hoping the Artisan Thor rumor is true.
I definitely understand what you mean by aging getting the better of you with the brush strokes. As I’ve gotten older, my tremors have gotten worse so I can’t do repaints like I used to which is sort of why I just stick to modding clothing now more than anything. I can hide the mistakes a little better
What components did you use? That looks great and I love the articulationHowdy! I wanted to share my Classic 1/6 Spider but wasn’t sure if to post here or make a new thread. Been wanting for a Classic Spidey, but the Hot Toys CMS015 Comic one didn’t grab me all the way. I loved the New Red & Blue Suit figure, but I wanted something very comic booky from my era so I made one! Cheers thanks for looking.

Love that Hulk. As much as it might cost, I’d love a totally seamless Hulk. I sold mine because I could never unsee how limited he was and didn’t want a forever-museum pose.Just finished my Darkhawk and painted my savage hulk head sculpt. Always wanted a 1/6 Darkhawk, glad I was able to finally do one.
