Statues and figures aren’t comparable.

I actually prefer statues and wish it was that simple to go buy statues instead.

The space requirements and cost of statues I just can’t personally justify. I gravitated to figures when I started collecting as they was the “cheaper” alternative and I liked the freedom to mod and kitbash as many of the characters I wanted to represent weren’t and still aren’t being made.
I also used to crap on statues as not as good as figures because they can just do the 1 pose. I realised they weren't comparable after getting a few :lol

I like them for different reasons and collect both and see them as two different hobbies. However I will say figure collectors in general appear more discerning about small details and statues are usually more accurate because they're easier to work with

As you said space is an even bigger problem once you start buying Prime1 or large scale statues. They're great but you quickly realise you need a museum or huge open space/cabinets to display them, especially Prime1. I have their two released Horizon statues and they're still in storage

From the moment they showed Feral I've been thinking, hey, so you do still have the license and are prepared to produce Preds (even if it is the ugly not really a predator from Prey) so there's hope for a Jungle Hunter 2.0
And then we get this, a moment of euphoria.. then the realisation they're just showing the "classic" Pred. Great.
I just hope that was a hastily cobbled together stand in to gauge interest or show intention and that in the coming months they'll unveil a proper Jungle Hunter.
I'm not going to hold my breath.

EDIT
And on the subject of joints, I don't think you can argue that seamless arms don't look better but I would worry about durability.
At least Jungle Hunter, unless they add a big ugly torso joint/seam like Feral, it's just the elbows that will stand out. JH has enough armour to hide most joints, like shoulders and knees.
Feral on the other hand wears so little armour, the joints really stand out on that figure. Feral particularly should have had a seamless body.

EDIT 2
Statues. Prime 1 Predator Statues look incredible but the price and space required for them make them a non starter for me.

The more I’m looking at these photos the more upsetting it’s getting. I’ve held out on getting a predator for so long purely on the inaccuracies. I may actually consider passing on this if there isn’t any major updates from these photos here

I mean if a person didn't have any Predator representation in their collection, it's fine. But for those of us who've had a Classic Predator as a stand in for Jungle Hunter for 13 years...

Most classic preds I’ve seen posted around have already been converted into a JH with a conversion kit and a far superior bio mask.

Hot toys really should have stepped up their game with this JH. Adjusting to the announcement after the sheer shock that this figure is actually being done leaves me increasingly disappointed.

Hyped for the T2 T800. But this is just pathetic, really hope in art gets the licence eventually because this just isn't good enough. Hot toys should put equal effort into all their figures but its clear that they favor Star wars and Marvel above all other licences. I mean look at that Doc brown figure from BTTF1 that re used the same part 2 sculpt instead of giving us a new and accurate sculpt. I wouldn't hold your breath for any improvements on this jungle hunter figure, what you see is probably what you'll get. Id love to be wrong but this company has shown me time and time again that they are one of the laziest out there.

Will buy this (whether it is upgraded or a just straight up reissue) since I never owned (and always wanted) the original Predator figure.

I own the classic pred from the predators. Back then I used to think how I wish I could get the accessories (necklace, etc) and the base from the first jungle hunter, but never get to it.
As time passed, the hype for predator stuff got put aside by other things. Now Hot Toys can fulfill my 10+ years wishlist, and with the brand new same Classic Pred that I own, with that same no torso articulation and weak, prone to break thigh joint! Thank you Howard, you're saint!! 😭

Plenty of complaints on Facebook as well. Do HT bother coming here and reading anymore? 😆 for they care at all? Probably not.
Out of curiosity, could you please provide a link to those complaints?

I bought a MISB Classic few months back, never took it off the box. What is that thigh joint problem all about?? You scared the **** off me now.... :-(

My humble 2c on this release:

1) If you talk to new generations, they have lots and lots of crappy post-80s movies to get sidetracked by. The other day a 30-something (but already w/ gray hair to show) put the SW OT and Rogue One in the same level. Righ on my face. Had to shut the **** up & keep smiling, not willing to start a war after that casus belli. What's all this for? I say this because, as already implied on this thread, and as Hot Toys managers might be absolutely certain about (hence the ludicrous half assed offering), there might just be very (too) few of us, discerning Predator fans, who really know good flicks from bad ones, and hence are really interested in (ie. willing to shell out pretty penny for) a properly made JP, or even a JP at all. There are just too few of us out there. HT has the raw data pointing to that, hence this crappy outing.

2) Then there is us, the few ones, scattered on boards where we just moan in pain because of this awful pseudo-proto, instead of confronting HT in an organized way, on some real-pain-inflicting front such as social media, which would be the only way to have HT change its ways. Somebody has talked about plenty of rejection for this mockup JH on social media. It won't be enough, as the only feedback HT really listens to is money. But then again, if we don't buy, they won't understand their offering was too lazy. They will understand demand is too low & kill the licence. As you already know, HT is a blind, deaf & stupid behemoth that does not actually care about these Western franchises beyond the profits it makes off them.

3) If you are on this board, that means that you want articulation. Period. No statues. That is for some other board. So, let's be coherent. We want articulation, interactivity, the capability to co-author the aesthetics of a figural art display by being able to decide on the figure's pose to the maximum extent possible. Add that to the unaffordability of this hobby these days (especially for bigger fellows like the preds) & to the EMPIRICAL FACT that rubber/silicone unavoidably decay over time until their total & ugly self-distruction, & there is absolutely no logical reason at all for anyone on here to be lobbying for seamless bodies. So let's sober up & keep clear in our minds that today's smiles (those fancy Wolvering & Carnage(?) painted rubber bodies) will become tears in 2, 3, 4, 5 years time (to the benefit of HT, and our own loss). Let's also remember the likes of ED-209 (v1 & v2) and all those rotting TBLeague bodies in the last couple of years. Then let's remember how much these things cost, then start again.

4) With the rubber issue already out of the way, there is little for me to say. Certainly, the JH sould be much bigger/more accurate (those spikes on his face....!!!), have LED lights on its forearm computer, metal parts, real leather parts, reinforced articulations and all the bell & whistles SW and Marvel do get. A Dutch to go with should be also provided. No rubber btw, for it decays over time, leaving you with NOTHING AT ALL after you shell out A TONE OF MONEY.

Thx.
