Hate to say it, but this bust is total garbage. Well, I shouldnt say that...the bust is nice.....the paint job is garbage! I just got mine today and made another thread on it. Check it out, mine came FULL of wonderful surprises...pretty much everything about the paint job on this thing I hate. I cant emphasise it enough. I sware they got some 10 year old with a spray can to paint this thing. The more I see other peoples posts on this thing the more I shake my head. The whole texture of the bust is almost like "eggshell finish"...and it doesnt even look like it has a clear coat on it. Mine isnt even red....its closer to burgundy!...what the hell???. SS last time I cheaked Iron man was RED/GOLD. What a waste of cash this was, this was my first purchase with side show and I think it will be my last. The people hear that say I can "live" with the imperfections are kidding themselves. You paid $700 to get something that was suppose to be mint as advertized....what you got is crap....thats stealing in my books. If I were all of you, I would send every single one back and ask for your money back....or tell them to do a proper paint job. This bust is NOT worth $700 its not even worth $300....had I seen this thing in person first I would have paid $150 for it and put it in my garage.

Not all of them have come like yours did. You were just unlucky.

Im thinking of doing a IM 1:1 MK II project

Guys I need your advice....

Im going to buy another SS IM bust and have it Chromed. I know, not a 100% accurate to IM movie. But I think it can be done professionally, it will look very good!

The color is going to be Charcoal Chrome since we cant get the Aircraft metal look.

Its the electronics that scares me a little. Any Chroming will involve paint/water, and I dont want that getting inside.

The bust is tight already but Im not sure...

And then there is the rivets...thats going to be just not possible but when you see the thread above it might not matter...it looks hot!

What do you say all! Any ideas, suggestions are welcome!

Thanks;

Alex

I think Chris is "on point". The bust is no where near as nice as the prototype shown that we all have looked at a million times over the past 6 months. The "cast in fiberglass" is just not so. I'm keeping mine because I need to to "justify the wait". I wish the price point had been lower and I will no longer be getting sucked in to any future pre-order purchases.

i am crapping myself now wondering if mine is going to be ok:mad: luckily i will be able to check mine before I pay for it as I am getting it from a local distributor.

damn got my fingers crossed,im sittin here in india hopin n prayin i get a good piece, its gonna be a ^^^^^ to send it back to hongkong....theres been a surprising amount of negative buzz about this so-called phenomenal bust ever since its come out,i still have a chance to cut my losses and bail out on this one,do u guys think i should do that or go ahead and get one?
i need opinions fast, time is runnin out!!

You can display it though. ;)

I wouldn't do that if I were you...

i had posted back sometime ago that i had seen this at my lcs, and i mentioned that it was no where near the same color paint or finish that the red/gold comiquette had on it. it is more of a maroon color and a slightly rusty gold color. also the paint app definately isn't a high shine automobile finish.
myself personally i liked the look of it on display, though for those out there that were expecting something along the lines of the IM comiqu, well i can see why you would be disappointed.
the comiquette is more of a prestine brand new, museum looking statue. while with the 1:1 bust, i believe ssc was going for a more realistic worn look, or even battle damaged, minus the bullet holes etc. and i think they pulled it off imo. if your expecting a perfectly even, flawless looking paint job, then you better cancel this guy, because his paint job in no way looks like that. i don't think ssc was even shooting for that type of app, looking at the one on display, it appeared that it was even purposely painted that way, with almost a blemished type, with different shading and glossiness to give it a more worn/used look.

i guess it's what you expect when you first open it, and if it's way off from what your expecting, then yeah your either going to have to adjust to it or return it.

it's just like the moria orc situation, at first everyone was wth, what a piece of sht, well know alot of people are now back on the band wagon wanting it.(myself included)

oh by the way, i don't own this one, or have plans on getting it. so i'm giving my unbias opinion on what i saw.

Your order with Alter Ego Comics is now complete. Please note that you have not been charged again for items that have previously shipped from this order. You will receive an email within 24 hours with package tracking information. :blissy

Now, I pray for a minty one. I don't expect perfect, but I just hope the issues are minor so that I wouldn't need to do a replacement.

This shipping is coming directly from Sideshow and not from Alter Ego Comics. I'm scheduled to receive it tomorrow. I'm working from home tomorrow :)
