I'm not sure how this stuff is manufactured, but the Iron Man bust is being sold as cast in fiberglass. Is that a true statement?
For those of you that are waiting for your bust to arrive. Don't look at any pictures of the prototype, lower your expectations.......and you will love your purchase!

yeah i ordered mine from popcultcha too - I just emailed them yesterday about delivery and they said it's still TBA.

It's a shame sideshow have been getting all this bad press (on here) lately - i mean i got the indy pf and i like it - looks just like him. I hope with the price of the iron man that it is not as bad or bad at all as people say!

its not the price ppl are complaining about, its the ^^^^ ass paint work on it for the price their paying for it

I am really sorry guys.
Man !! I cant stop looking at mine it is just the coolest thing to have in your room.

man !! was mine the only one that looked like the proto pics because it looks just like it.

on the light is very shinny and the color is the perfect match from the movie.
I am 110% happy with mine.

I am With You I just took a look at the proto pics and Mine looks The same:naughty.. so i really don't know what did a lot of people got:confused:...specially the ones who are talking about the "red" color it was always the color shown nerver a brighter one......

there are probably 1400 out of 1500 happy customers out there :) you'll always get some bad ones...maybe 100 of out of 1500. I hope i'm with the 1400 group.

I"m happy for you guys.......your not really helping my cause. I'll bet you guys own stock in Sideshow. :)

See, I think the paint isn't THAT glossy in the movie right?!?!?! I know that it isn't as smooth and glossy as people would've hoped, but it's metal that deflects bullets and stuff!!! Granted, that's NO excuse for the rough patches on the paint work and MISSED spots in the neck!!!! :sick

If I knew they were gonna send me a bust with this crappy paint job I would have asked they send it to me UNPAINTED and at half the price. I would have got a professional painter to (who isnt color blind) to paint this thing properly. I work in the car business, I know to many painters that could have taken on a job like this and made this thing look awesome.
Its not ONLY the paint that hurts this bust its the lack UNEVEN surfaces. Their are many parts on this bust where PRIMER should have been used, sanded primed again and painted. Thats why theirs so many warped edges and concave surface areas.

I talked to SS customer service today, I asked them if they have been getting any calls about the IM bust. She said "NOPE, not 1...everyone has been saying how great and PERFECT they look"....what a load of BS. They probably got 100+ calls about this over promoted paperweight.
Then she says we will have someone call you next week "SOMETIME" to sort out the return..........???????????...........ummm I thought I only had 30 days to return this thing from the date YOU shipped it to me. Meanwhile, time is ticking to get it back to them....they will probably get it back on the "31st" day and say SORRRRYYYY its over 30 days cant help you!

Well Sideshow usually is really good as far as their customer service goes. And it's a shame that you got such a badly painted one man, but in all honesty it can happen where a few come out with something wrong., it's just the way things are in the collecting game unfortunately. It just sucks when it happens to you, it's always my biggest fear when I'm awaiting the arrival of something. I'm hoping it all gets worked out for you soon man.

Relax man. It sucks... but ^^^^ happens. Every now and then, you will get a messed up piece. That's the way it is.
I'm very thankful that nothing of mine has ever arrived damaged. But something will eventually.

Thanks, we'll see how it gos....like I said in a previous post I dont hate SS. They still have one chance to redeem themselves and thats through how they handle this situation from here. I opted for a replacment because I really do want to keep this thing.....however if they send me another one that looks the same as this.........then Im sorry.....im done with SS. Which would be tragedy because I really havent even STARTED with them yet. This was my first purchase with SS.
Im HOPING they prove me wrong, and find a way to wow me and keep my business.

Good. :D

Don't worry. Sideshow are a great company. Most of their Iron Man products have come with paint flaws anyway. :huh
Don't let this be your last purchase. Sideshow have alot of quality, and I'm sure you will be extremely pleased with your next purchase. :D
Good Luck with getting a new, mint, Iron Man.

Hope it wont be my last, I already have a few more ordered via the pre order and wait list. Im expecting a 1:1 T2 bust, PF King Leonidas "300" and the PF Abomination.....and im debating weather to place and order for the 1:1 scale T-800 Endoskeleton....which I think would look amazing in my theater room. Only thing is if I change my mind....im out $1000 for the non-refundable deposite (clearly these are made to order)

YES !!! lets not lose our faith on SIDESHOW !!

I was watching the making of iron man today and saw how they made the actual suit for the movie and it was dead on to the bust.
I am going to post a temporary video on youtube just to show you how accurate it is in scale and color.

You won't be disappointed with the 1:1 T2 Bust, I have the Combat Version and it's absolutely amazing. You can check out a few pics in my collection thread if you want. And if your getting the Combat one also, even if there are a few scratches you probably won't notice them anyway, and you can just chalk it up to being even more battle damaged. :lol
Here's a link to the photos in my thread. :D

Now that is pretty sweet! I think it actually looks better than the chrome version to be honest. Now im actually anxious to get mine and check it out for myself. It cant be made of metal?...how much does it weigh?

and yes, the one I ordered is the battle damaged version...

Yeah I think it's better then the Chrome version too. It says on the box that it's made of Polystone if I remember correctly, but I'm pretty sure it's actual chrome metal covering the Polystone, even if it's a thin layer, and it's cold to the touch so it has to be. And those 2 hoses I guess you can call them running up the side of it's face are actually real, they aren't cheaply made or anything. I can't remember where or what they are used for, but I know I've seen similar ones in a hardware shop or something.

It has some serious weight to it, I would say it's at least 10-15 pounds, probably even heavier than that. I'm not a good judge of weight, but it really is heavy. This thing definitely screams high quality all around. And the light up function is awesome! When you power them down they actually fade off just like in the movies.

I've noticed that one of reasons my paint looks a little off is that some of the surfaces look like they have thin coat of dust on them but it can't be wiped off and appears to be part of the paint. It almost looks like that while the paint was drying, some dust got trapped within. Is it possible to buff or clean the paint??
