Ive got a few questions; one- is obi-wan beard suppost to be higher on the right side of his face on the figure? two- what kind of paint would you use for repaints on these kinds of figures? and three- what techniques should i use if i where to retouch on some areas of his face? thanks-

Yep, he did replace Obi's tunic, but not with Mace's... I can't remember what tunic he used actually, I'll have to ask him. Regarding the base, he said this:

Thats what I'm doing. I picked up a set of Halloween lights for $3 at Target today. I just need to know what was used for the box and where I can get that lava without having to hunt down Anakin and Obi-Wan.

Andy, any help. Your friend's set up is amazing and show off your beautiful scupts even better IMO.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

In that case Id just need a box, I have the other stuff. Let me know if you find an appropriate box pre-made. Otherwise I might just look into making my own box with plexiglass and a base.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

i mean, you can spray paint a shoe box black if need be, the only problem for me would be the see through substance for the figures and lava to sit on top of.

Thanks Darth! I will have a bunch more to paint soon, and I still have yet to actually get my Obi, Mace or Qui-Gon... So I imagine that when I do... there will be many many pics of the repaints...

Yes, there will be. Thanks again for agreeing to repaint mine, Josh. As great as this figure was right out of the box, this figure of my favorite Star Wars character deserves the best possible treatment. IMO, that's having it repainted by you.

I'm looking forward to putting your work on display in my collection. And to sharing pics of it with everyone here.

Thanks Pickard.... It means a lot to me that these repaints go out to people who love and enjoy the characters as much as I do. I will do my best to give you the best damn Obi-Wan I can!! :D

"I will do what I must...."

Thanks for the props PT, I'm new to these boards so I'll share my work when I know what I'm doing.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Very nice MaulFan and welcome. Any tips on how you matched the color of the scene for the picture you took?

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

I won obi-wan on an ebay auction, but the person putting up the bid isn't responding...gaaaa, I just want my obi-wan. :monkey2 :monkey2

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

I know people complained about the thinner fabric of his tunic but I like it. It makes it look like clothing more in proportion with a 1/6 scale figure.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

It still kind of bugs me a bit. I thought about swapping it with AOTC Obi's, but the color is too dark and the sleeves are too short. :p

The only problem that I have with the thinner material is the fact that Obi's tunic arrived torn at the seam because it was so thin. It's great that it's in better proportion, but not at the expense of durability.

Re: Obi's Beard

Obviously the SSC paint apps with Obi's beard was too dark but what is a Film-accurate representation? The SDCC repaint or something else? Just wanted to share with you what I believe is accurate (based on actual film) and pics below and what I used as reference in my notes to DarkArtist when I had him do MY Obi... they were basically to "use the SDCC paint apps as a base then use reddish blonde highlights" to realize his ACTUAL appearance.

First, 2 Pics of OBI

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Yeah, Pjam... I too agree that even the famous SDCC Obi was not 100% Ewan in color. It was even a tad too dark. I think that the extra mile that was taken with the apps on the one I did for you helped push it into a more true to the actor paint scheme.

I only hope that my next couple are as good if not better than my last.
