Figure looks really good to me, I like the slight weathering on the armor. I wasn't sure about keeping this but I think I will seeing the in-hand pictures. The art box is sort of plain but whatever.

It's the exact same design as Sideshow's been using for years (I don't get how this is escaping anyone's notice...). I'd say it confirms that the packaging is an LFL mandate (as was rumoured), aside from certain exceptions like SSC's Vader and Grievous. No way would HT choose such a boring design voluntarily.

PS - Nice pics, bambooluv.

The DX07 box wasn't the typical Sideshow style or plain black. It was more of a dark gray with a Cloud City background. Maybe that's just because it was part of the DX line. At the end of the day its just a box so whatever I guess.

It most certainly is a mandate. There are very specific rules and guidelines. If things conform to a certain standard the approval also is smoother. I know people that have done box design for Star Wars toy makers and it is a very specific process.

looks NICE

Congrats on the get, bambooluv! Great pics as well! :clap

Thanks guys!

The box art is straight forward, nothing earth shattering but the slight weathering is done in good taste for the color tone.

Thanks, I've never owned the SS troopers as they've hit the price points I am just not willing to pay in the secondary markets. I've read here and there that HT helped design SS troopers in the past is there any validity to this? If so I can understand the reuse, I figured SS would of put a license patent on the design making HT go back to the drawing board, but I guess not. Either way great figure, I'm sure someone out there will pick one up that already has the SS version and can do a side by side comparison for us.

The helmet has a most unpleasing shape on the back. :slap

Did they have an FX helmet as guide when sculpting I wonder?

Bet we will see one of these guys in Episode VII. As a flashback to the old trooper design.
Then this will become a serious Star Wars Grail.
:lol

Looking at the profiles side by side on my browser...they missed that set of curves, but I still think this is the best to date...even the Marmit stormtroopers have too long a "snout" in comparison (the Stormies in particular, not so much a problem with the Sandtrooper sculpt) ...I can live with the back of the helmet being a little off.

It's hard to tell with the Shadow version, but although some proportions are off here and there, I think the production Stormies will kill it. That coupled with the delicious glossy finish....game over, man. :panic:

I was kind of wondering the same thing. Like possibly they will be leftovers from a the previous empire that were requisitioned and repainted. Possibly even by the rebellion ( or new republic, or whatever it will be called).

Was it just a rumor or was it officially stated that HT were only going to do canon characters from the film? If it's official, that might be a clue.

its a great figure .. but where is this canon?

Nowhere. It was from EU comic books not films. And now so much of the EU is down that is crazy. Still a nice concept, though not too imaginative.

God forbid :lol

I'm surprised this is still available on wait list, it must've gone off the boil in people's minds then..., unlike Hot Rod which is long gone, I was hoping mine will convert soon so I can have the 2 figures sent together but no conversion as yet.

I thought these were from the comic strips back in the 70s originally? (although still not canon)
