The MMS branding on this one pretty much ensures that we won't be getting a plastic one which means I'm out. I like the 42 suit and am sure they'll be doing the alternative suits but I can't swing with this pricepoint.

I'm sure this will hang around for a while given that cost and maybe I'll change my mind later on with this particular mark but looks like my IM HT days are coming to a close.

It says the PO will be up for us Oversea when the movie launches so I'm assuming first week for that one.

This one should be up today if they go along with their previous PO time frame.

Yeah, I was just reading the information in it's own thread. Heh, bet the price is higher than what people expect due to exclusive.

This looks awesome and gives me high hopes for the Diecast Mark III to have battle damaged components as well...which would look great displayed with Monger! :wink1:

I will say this. If they made a diecast Mark I, I'd probably actually nab that at the $300 cost. If done right that'd be awesome to have.

Surprised they didn't with v2.0. Bet they revisit the whole line and make it inferior.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - Iron Man 3: Iron Man Mark 42 Diecast Series MMS

It's obvious that battle damage is easier on plastic, they're working with bits of metal so it's harder to edge in smaller details.

Nature of die cast. You'll have to live with the softer details.

Ugh. Die cast.

I know because the diecast industry has been down this path and went with the sharp detailed parts of plastic. Anything thats not easily made with metal is done via plastic. Easy solid bits are metal. Now Hot Toys is learning on it's own.

Plus knowing Hot Toys quality control... flaky/cracked paint? like the problems with Sideshow busts? chemical reaction between paints? who knows what else, metal fatigue? curing? since it's a figure and moving parts.

I'm getting this for sure but i still find it odd they pass this series off as a all new diecast line, when they're only 40% and mostly still plastic. :slap

That's the thing that bothers me.. How can you call it Diecast series when half the product isn't even Diecast. That's like saying a Toyota Camry is a luxury car because it has heated seats..

Is this the same suit that has his left arm all wrecked? would loved to have seen more wrecked parts to swap out or like the VI, swappable arms.

:exactly:that's what I've been saying in the Die Cast thread.

I will still be purchasing this figure(my 1st ironman fig) it'll just feel weird knowing that its not truly a die cast figure despite the name.

I'll be waiting on the MK3 now that it's been shown that BD parts can be with the DieCast figures unlike OMG previously stated
