That's my favorite armor of all time, Barry. I think he's referring to the slope of the faceplate and the extra-large RT on the chest. It definitely reminded me of the UIM armor when I first saw it, if only because it looks more like the Ultimates version than anything else in the film.

I never saw that at all during my viewings.
On reflection, maybe it's me.
But if they wanted to homage the UIM armour, they could have gone further towards it.
I *know* it couldn't have been a rights issue, lol.

Yeah pretty much what I thought, as well as the bulk. Though I do completely understand why people like the suit. I just like the more streamlined and sleek stuff from the Adi Granov days and such.

I just watched IM3 for the second time and was wondering which Mark is the blue one near the beginning of the tanker fight that is shown targeting the extremis soldiers. Also which Mark attacks and is destroyed by Pepper?

I'm pretty sure the one your talking about is hammerhead. The one pepper kills was talked about in another thread and I believe they found out it was mk 9 or 10.

Well for one the mk 7 gets destroyed in the mansion attack with the hall of armor. Mk 8,9 and 10 are similar red and gold so it makes sense it would be one of them.

Re-watched the movie again, The armor on the diner with Rodney when he has his first anxiety attack looks like a battle damage MK7 from the Avengers

The one on the Hall of Armor that got blown up was a shiny well polished MK7 (unless they are static display only and not full functioning armors)

They weren't display models.
There's a deleted scene from the movie where Tony tells Jarvis to blow the MKI to MKVII in the Hall Of Armour.
Tony protests that he "can't have these things getting out", and Jarvis blows them one by one.
It was cut from the movie, and turned into the baddies blowing them with missiles because the makers didn't want Tony to be empowered during the attack on 10880 Malibu point. They wanted the armours TAKEN from him.

This is just a movie gaffe.
During IM2, they didn't have a mockup of the MKIV, MKV, MKVI or WM.
They had a full size wearable MKII from IM1 that was reworked to be the autopsy version.
In any case, after Avengers, they made full size replicas of all the marks so far, for going on the road at cons, and these were also used for the HOA in IM3. With the exception of the MKIII which is always displayed damaged, every other armour was pristine. But the CG version wasn't pristine, even though it didn't have "Avengers levels of damage".
The MKVII he wears at the diner is not the full blown Avengers BD suit, leading to the conclusion that the Avengers MKVII(And presumably the beat up MKVI from Avengers Tower), were retired, recycled or seriously repaired prior to the time of IM3.
With that in mind, it would appear that the MKVII(up to the beginning of IM3 at least), was Tony's "runabout" armour that he used on a daily basis. A tried and tested model he was comfortable with.
But...
Even that's not true. On set, not only was it the MK42 that Tony had sitting outside the diner, IP was there too!
It must have been during post that they decided to tie it to the Avengers movie by having him use the MKVII, even though he had built 35 newer armours since then.

Thanks for the Info Username! i didnt know that! is that from Special features on the BR or just reading on the web?

The audio commentary on the bluray reveals a lot of interesting plot points and mentions some deleted/scrapped scenes that really make the movie more believable.

Worth the watch/listen IMO.

Info on the BR.
Also, the first pics of the armours were the on set images of the MK42 and IP standing on the street.
They were standing on the street next to motorbikes.
It wasn't till i saw the movie i realised that where the MKVII stood had originally been the MK42 and the IP standing on the street outside the cafe where Tony and Rhodey are having lunch.
The idea that because they are the only two with these suits, they can meet up anywhere for lunch is soooo cool.

Proof that HT's figs are WAY undersized.

Have you watched the Blu Ray with the documentaries?
Tony stands about 6 inches higher than normal when wearing the MK42.
The scene where Maya comes to the house and he is wearing the suit, all he was wearing were tracking markers. When she walks along beside him, RDJ was walking along a 6" high piece of flooring. He stops, and steps down(The part where the armour opens up to let him out).
As all the armours i have stand a scale 6" higher than the Tony figure, HT seem to have gotten it right.
You don't know what height those people are in the image.
Or if the MK42 was on a base of some kind.

Wish they would have kept that scene, those two suits look great together. Plus any extra scene with patriot would be appreciated since Rhodey wore it maybe two minutes tops and at most it had five minutes of screen time. O well, at least once I have these two figures they can share some badass poses together for the rest of their days.

I'm still hoping that Rhodey got out of the IP suit before Tony went and blew it up to impress his girlfriend.
"Sir we just got confirmation that Tony Stark blew up Lieutenant Rhodey and the President as they were flying to safety."

The good news IP wasn't part of his 42 suits.

Proof that HT's figs are WAY undersized.

I think they got it just right if you compare it to the IM3 Tony.

IP wasn't part of the House Party protocol me thinks :monkey1

Nope. I think House Party Protocol was only the suits he made after the Mk7. I also think they mentioned in the film that AIM worked on his suit or something like that, even though I read in the prequel comic that Tony redesigned the War Machine armor, but I guess that means it's still one of the earlier prototypes that weren't made to self-detonate. Would've been kind of funny though. :lol
