It’s a toy...

What do people expect?

I’m buying it to get a little more pose ability out of it. I’m not expecting too much. If I want accuracy I’ll look at my IS Vader.

It's a close to 300.00 toy what do you mean what do we expect lol This isn't a Black Series figure, no reason we shouldn't expect a well tailored product at this price.

I'm probably spoiled by my IS myself :D

Looks like they’ve improved the sculpt of the tusks. Hopefully they improve the flesh tone on Vader but either way this was an easy pickup for me.

I'm ordering it mainly for the base and because Vader is the man. Still prefer the look of my Rogue One Vader at least based on pics, but I'm hopeful this will improve before release. We got a while yet.

Would you recommend KGHobby?

I have to pay customs + shipping if I buy from sideshow. Assuming shipping would be 40 USD as usual, 267 + 53.4 (%20 Customs) + 40 (Shipping) - 13.35 (Reward Point) = Roughly 350 USD. If I order from KGHobby, figure is 230 USD + 40 (Assuming shipping) + 46 (Assuming they do not write lower value for customs) = Roughly 316 USD.

Does anyone now whether they write lower value for customs?

Recently bought Han Solo in disguise from KGHobby at around 240$ with zero customs. In other means, they described the valued of the package at 10$. Then you have to consider that I'm living in Sweden, the most tax loving country on earth so I'm happy with the end result[emoji23]

So yes, if you want to get your Hot Toys figures at a lower price than Sideshow and delivered one month ahead of Sideshow buyers, then buy from KGHobby.

Lol this post sounds like an advert for them, but it's just my earlier experience ordering from them. Hope this helped sorting things out!

Look at your IS Vader more often then. [emoji23]

Great I preordered from KG too .The "estimated shipping" was 40$

Also anyone familiar with Urban Samurai Hobbies in Canada? That was another option but they don;t have it and it probably would have been 50$ more right off the bat if they did

Iron studios.

That statue is a bit too big for me but you can tell right off the bat the got the helmet right in all the proportions, it just looks like Vader ..that's the main problem i have with the new hot toys.the head sculpt is not bad but i really hope the final figure is a bit better than the prototype and it's not the final dome

Plus I said I'd never buy anything made of polystone anymore. Parts can break off just looking at it too hard. I have a Sauron bust that I had to glue with epoxy in 3 places now

That’s all good.

But ultimately this is a plastic toy doll figure, proximately 1 ft in height. You’re not going to get accurate detail in something this small. But HT is doing a damn good job of getting close.

And on the whole accuracy deal - I like to think HT sort of stylizes there figure to make them look better. Vader in the films only looks good from certain angles, some angles the helmet looks goofy and disproportionate. If they made Vader exactly like he looked in the films he would probably not look to good in 12” form.

And they are expensive. I knew that going in. Which is why I used my reward points, I wouldn’t have bought it if those $87 in points weren’t available. [emoji23]

I don't think that's possible. I have to pull myself away from it as it is lol.

It's definitely spoiled me in terms of expectations.

I don't think it's the posing. I think it's stuff like the short arms (kinda giving Vader a T-Rex vibe). The gloves being a bit too long doesn't help that either. The pleating is distracting too. The Bespin backdrop pics for this figure look fantastic until you put them side by side with movie stills. Then the "I don't know what it is, but . . ." start to become more obvious. Vader just seems tough to get right at the 1/6 scale. There's still a year until this figure is released, so plenty of time to make improvements though. They'll keep on getting better after this too.

Its the shoulder armor IMO. Its a bit too long

I disagree. only a slight difference in the proportions from the screen version helmet can make it look bad from most angles. The body is less important to me though

Like the Rogue One Vader looks quite good from one angle (if I look at it from below and to the right)but when I look at it other ways somethings off, especially directly from the front. It's not just the flare that's a bit too big, it's the actual shape , like the sides are too "straight" giving him too much of a triangular look

The only thing they can do better than the screen version is the finish of figure itself. In the film the ANH helmet and armor looks quite sloppy and whoever painted it wasn't very good at it. In that way I like the Rogue One hot toys better than the ANH because they didn't replicate the sloppy brush strokes and chipped paint

The only difference between Single Tarkin and Two Pack Tarkin is one big extra accessory, Darth Vader. :lol

Everything else is indeed the same. I had Two Pack Tarkin in order, but dropped it for ESB Vader and Single Tarkin. Thank God BBTS didn't have an NRD for them. I'd be pissed.

haha

sideshow gave me a one time cancellation courtesy, so single pack tarkin and esb vader here I come! :hi5:

That was good of them... but to call it a courtesy? They’re now probably making more money on two orders and should be thanking you.

yeah about $60 or so more, I think, I didn't do the exact math just eyeballed it quickly. So yeah, it's a thoughtful courtesy haha.

But in the long run I'm happier and I get more out of the Vader for that $60 or so. I get an ESB vader with partial reveal, lightup chest box and a sick display, as oppose to ANH Vader albeit nice looking, with none of those perks, and would just bet a placeholder until the eventual reveal vader.

Oh I agree it’s the right move to get the Vader you want. Glad it worked out for you.

I was just surprised Sideshow wasn’t more thankful over the transaction.
