Thank you! I do love the 46 but slightly prefer the 45... i mean nothing beats the mk6 for me but :rotfl

I feel about the same way, at least in terms of overall armor design by Marvel/Disney. Totally fell in love with the Mk. VI during IM2 and Avengers 1 because it is very reminiscent of one of my favorite comic armors (Extremis) and nothing that had come out from the MCU really could beat it In my opinion. The HPP suits were great and I do like the color variations that don't necessarily stick with the classic Red/Gold which is why armors like Starboost, Midas, Shotgun, IP and of course all the WM's are high up on my list.

But that all changed when the first production pictures of the Mk. 45 were shared. The semi reflective faceplate, the proper Red (with very slight orange tint), the sleek/muscular design all were factors that put this as well tied with the Mk. VI.

Mk. 46 is great and I do love it but I prefer the sleeker design of the 45 as opposed to the more "paneled" look of the 46. To me, it looks more like the 45 & 46 are transposed. I just feel like when looking at the evolution of the MCU armor design, the Mk. 45 should be after the Mk. 46. Anyways, that's my ramble.

Sorry but MK 6 is pretty far off from Extremis, in both design and function, and if it boils down to "triangle reactor" then its actually a lot closer to the modern Armor from the beginning of the extremis story

Of course I was talking about the original Extremis armor from the 6 part comic series where he did indeed have the triangle chest RT. The armor was still his "older" look, all that was added was the original Extremis nanotech.

Oh and if you read what I wrote, I said Mk. VI most resembles that armor, not that it looks exactly the same. Just like Mk. 46 resembles bleeding edge but in no way are they identical.

Ah I gotcha, just to clarify though, that suit is called the Modern armor

MkVII for me!

I've grown to love the Mark VI more and more over time... but after rewatching Avengers the Mark VII still just isn't working for me. I know it's kind of meant to be a "battle armor", but it still looks a bit too bulky with those things on top of the shoulders and the silver upper legs kinda clash with the red and gold of the rest of the suit. And it just doesn't seem like as cohesive a design.

Uh-oh, no you didn't. :horror Watch out, the trolls be coming!

Actually I get where you're coming from and agree with some of your points. In my opinion, the silver bits are/were a welcome addition especially since his earlier designs all had some bits painted silver (although once the thigh missiles were spent, the underlying armor is gold).

As you stated, it was his first "heavy combat" armor and it seems like the MCU felt that more weapons meant more bulk which is a stark (pun intended) contrast to how weaponry is handled in the comics. If you look at the armor designs from IM1-AoU, pretty much shows that the bulkier the armor, the more weapons it will contain. However, I do feel that the 45 & 46/47 moved in the opposite direction.

With those armors, (especially the 46/47) features like the shoulder rockets have been integrated into the suit and even WM's baton (suit obviously built by Stark) was stored in a compartment in the back. If you're into the more streamlined armors, you're kinda limited to the old designs and the Mk. 45!

Im guessing youre not a fan of War Machine?

I like the sleeker-looking War Machine from IM3, if that counts. :D But you're probably talking about the bulkier first one, which I thought was just ok. But then this isn't a character I've really cared much about one way or the other. And that first armor was designed by the military so I figured it was kind of supposed to look blocky and not terribly attractive like Tony's suits.

Aaaaand it would seem TheBatman was correct :horror

By the way, davejames, they never actually showed WM Mk. II in IM3 as it was technically rebranded the Iron Patriot. Just wondering, do the colors of the IP put you off? Did you prefer the look in AoU?
