I'm honestly surprised they went with a "Stan Lee" figure instead of through one of his cameos. I thought they'd be able to make him beacause of one of those licenses. Either way, I'm happy to get him and glad I passed on that one that came out earlier this year. Getting different outfits for him could be a lot of fun. I guess this is the Spider-Man 3 Stan though :lol

My theory is still that he's an ultra secret Agent of SHIELD.

As a star wars collector,I might have to pass on this, but I eagerly await the Hot Toys George Lucas

Looks great. But on principle I won't buy it until/unless we get a Kirby figure.

I, sadly, don't see that happening. I think the closest we'll probably get is if DCC does a Superman:TAS Dan Turpin. If it's any consolation, Bob Kane doesn't have his own action figure, so, there's a balance to everything, I suppose.:lol

As soon as kirbys charity asks, he makes movie cameos, and gives hot toys free publicity then you can expect it. Though a couple of those won't be to easy

I can't say I agree with the dismissive tone, but I do agree with you. Love him or hate him, Stan Lee's a household name for good reason. The man has a knack for promotion. Whether that makes him a glory hound is up to you, but he's established himself as a public figure like no one in comics, before or since. I'm relatively uneducated about all of the sordid details of what happened with Marvel and Ditko/Kirby, so, I'll refrain from commenting on those matters, but I will say that's a damned nice figure.

Why is HT making a figure of this old man? I rather have Iron Man.

Who the hell is he anyways? The main actor in Bad Grandpa? Why is he doing stupid Spider-Man poses? Is he a fan or something?

So glad I'm winding down collecting 1/6. This would have been $109 7 yrs ago.

Yeah. I love Stan Lee, how can you not, but when people call him a credit hog I kinda know where they're coming from. You would think that Stan Lee came along created every character on his own and left Marvel on top for years. A great book on him that I read years ago was Stan Lee and the Rise and Fall of the American Comic Book. It gives and very nuanced look at all of this.

Anyhoo, I think this figure is great!! I love the paint and detail on the skin. I really dig the old man arms. I wonder if it's just the arms or did they go all the way with an old man body. Very nice Hot Toys.

:goodpost: I agree and Kirby definitely doesn't get enough credit but I think a lot of that is because he died so long ago before a lot of the movie stuff really took off and got mainstream popular. I think the fact that Stan lee has done cameos in all the marvel movies is part of why hot toys made a figure of him, he has really become an icon for marvel due to the comedy aspect of his involvement, and while I think a Kirby figure would be awesome, I wouldn't hold your breath for hot toys to make one.

You could show Jack Kirbys face to 1000 random people and I bet less than 10 would know who he is. That's why he will never get a figure. While everyone might not know Stan Lee's name I bet most would at least recognize him.

Mostly it's press, as to why they did it. No licensing fees, limited tooling cost that is offset by charity and promised sales(same as when they did the crane figure for burton and the chocolate figure for that store..ect). It's a no risk figure that costs them nothing and gives them free exposure to the core group of collector they target. It was always going to be revealed for this weekend (Stan lees got his own convention in LA this weekend called comikazi or something like that). And they advertised the figure for free and being Stan Lee tons of non toy sites even show it or reveal it.
