I honestly think that the black oval stands are being phased out by Hot Toys. Almost every release they do has a diorama or unique base now. The diorama type bases are bigger but do look better to me.

I really just still like them the best
Good thing for knock offs then . Just need a sticker that covers the hole for yoda since the stand would be to tall .

I know many say " but they have to make a new body, two head sculpts " etc.
But if that's as good as the debate gets for justifying $200 for a four inch plastic figure that will be mass produced, then the doors are left wide open for lunacy prices from then on.
I love my hot toys and Sideshow figures, but seriously guys, that price is already 50 too much.

These head shots Holo put on the first page really show how nice the sculpt is IMO. Looks better up close in bright light than in any promo shot.

wow. The paint apps are awesome. I wonder who make the proto pics for Hot Toys, they look much worse.

I would pay the 200 bucks with no hesitation if only the sculpt at least like Sideshow.

Will be waiting for in hand pictures... but this could improve dramatically with a few touches.

Yoda HS looks great!!

Amazing job.
Im not in any hurry to order...really may be one of those purchases that "if it happens, it happens."

p.s. I can see a DX ROTJ Jedi Luke coming with throne room duel base AND desert skiff base - and being a whopping 289.99

(save this post as proof I told you so!)

These new head sculpt pics are awesome. If people moan about this, they need bigger things to worry about lol.

The sculpt is pretty good, the chin and jawline are a little off.
No sculpt will ever be 100%, and even if it was, people would pick holes in something else.

Yes really! There's so much wrong with this I don't even know where to begin!

:lol OK. Your disappointment seems more a reflection of your expectations for a character you happen to be a big fan of though, 'cause I've seen a lot worse as far as HT protos go.

This is typical for a HT Thread here. As soon as the prototype is shown, the negatrons come out in full force posting comments full of malarkey and hyperbole. I'll never understand why they bother posting pessimistic comments about figures they obviously have no interest in buying.

One's intent to buy a figure or not has never been a prerequisite for being able to comment on it :dunno

Yeah, we've seen what HT are capable of. We can expect more of them. People shouldn't accept "at least it's better than sideshow's" while paying $200 for a figure.

The thing is, though, that I have absolutely no problem with this sculpt. If another sculptor board member posted this pic and offered just the painted sculpt for $160 plus shipping he'd have more work than he can handle.

I think it's great. Wish he had his fuzzy hair though, and I'm not real keen on the clothing. I have the SS one, so I'll wait awhile for this one.

There's something "off" about that sculpt;can't put my finger on it,but it's not quite right...PS

There is a HUGE difference between sharing opinions, comments, and constructive criticism about a figure and just being a HT hater or a HT fanboy.

I have an alternate suggestion; how about a sub-forum for all the negatrons where they can share pics of how every HT figure looks like Tom Cruise and then congratulate each other for pre-canceling HT figures.
If you like it, then why do you care why others dont or just dont like it as much as you?

Posts like yours start arguments and discussions the derail the thread. Nobody has been out of line in their criticisms and issues about the figure yet.

I am in the middle, it is better than anything so far, but not significantly better.

Learn to accept that others have different opinions or points of view. Now, if someone keeps posting the same negativity over and over again, then I can understand your discomfort, but for now, everyone has been civil with the usual jokers making harmless jokes or comments
