Dang! Didn't realize they had McDonalds on Dagobah!

Or maybe he's been ploughing into Luke's food... "THIS, is how you get so big, eating food of this kind."

Quick photoshop on the right of a head reshape...

For reasons of clarity and fairness (if this was a SS prototype I would ***** about it). I have to say I think this looks terrible. Flat faced and very un-yoda like.
PERS=unrealistic googly eyes that can make a figure look unrealistic.
Movie Yoda= huge unrealistic eyes that make the character iconic.

HT: let's just paint the eyes. Hair? No lets sculpt it.... But... But we gave rocket raccoon real whiskers?
That's Marvel though.

3/10

Please fix HT.

Re: Price. People think because he's half the size of a normal figure he should be half the price. Sadly it doesn't work like that in the real world. They have to develop a brand new body which they can't reuse for anything else which costs more, not less. Other than that everything else is the same as it would be on a normal figure where they make the heads, clothes, accessories and in Yoda's case new hands and a unique base.

In other words i understand why he is priced like a regular figure even though he is smaller. Is he WORTH it though? No, of course not. All these figures are overpriced, Yoda included. It's just within HTs standard pricing model, this is normal.

The more I look at this headsculpt the more it looks like the SSC Dagobah head, though it's much better painted (SSC seems to have major problems with getting shades of green right) and the eyes are more real looking. This head really has a somewhat odd shape, but it may be some lens distortion (that's making the head so bulbous on top and jowly below.)

These head shots Holo put on the first page really show how nice the sculpt is IMO. Looks better up close in bright light than in any promo shot.

Looking at it more, it resembles the prequels Yoda more than the original one, with the original's expression.

The prequel Yoda had a more stern, serious expression most of the time. The original was more like whatever.

Agree with you there. Looks pretty terrific in those shots. There're a couple promo shots that catch the sculpt at nice angles.

This is typical for a HT Thread here. As soon as the prototype is shown, the negatrons come out in full force posting comments full of malarkey and hyperbole. I'll never understand why they bother posting pessimistic comments about figures they obviously have no interest in buying.

It's pessimism like this that is killing the hobby.

Actually I take it back....it's this kind of pessimism that is just poisoning the community. I'm going to enjoy this release regardless of other people's expectations.

...and it's only got worse since that one post you were replying to :lol

They will still end up buying it. It's the best 1/6 Yoda we'll ever get.

Probably because it's a forum. So everyone can comment on stuff, whether they like it or not, think it's good or not, or are buying it or not.

It's kind of like people giving their open and honest opinions, feedback, comments and constructive criticisms. Spooky.

Perhaps it's time we opened a new sub forum for members who can't tolerate negative comments and have a general place to praise and lap up any release HT give us. I dunno. Just an idea.

Hot Toys Missed on this one....

1. No Rooted hair...miss
2. Fat face sculpt ......Miss
3. Robe material.....Miss
4. Expression.....Miss (Except for the extra head that looks pretty good!)
5. My Wallet....Miss

.....he looks like he has the mumps.....

That photo shopped pic is much much better and would have probably been a PO for me had it looked that way.

HT CAN, get a sculpt perfect, and we know that. That's part of the critique on a 200 dollar purchase. It was really hard to complain about Jack Sparrow, Joker , and recently Leia. We KNOW they can nail it....so it is disappointing to collectors when the obviously miss the mark on an iconic character.
