Yoda shipment expected in two weeks, it is. Exorbitant shipping, yes. Be mindful about future purchases at SS, I will. Excited to receive though, I am.

Finally received my two week notice. May 14th.

Selling my first Avengers Captain America is supposed to fund this, but nobody's buying. :lol

Unfortunately HT Yoda's hair can't be futzed very much like Chewy's fur. I was hoping to get a bit of the "wild hair" look he has onscreen, but the glue is a bit too controlling, forcing the hair straight downward. You can futz it a bit and it looks okay, but not to the degree to make it really look right, and the strands tend to stay straight instead of more naturally bending. Sculpted hair under the real hair is slightly weird, especially because the real hair is glued in two lines top and bottom, but it's fine in-hand.

And I really don't understand the reddish "dust" wash they gave him. It's minor but I see it every time. Not sure why they did it - he never has a reddish look to his head in any of the movies.

A warning for those thinking of placing the HT head onto a Sideshow Mentor Yoda body - while the head affixes just fine, the HT hands are another story. The joint is totally different to the SSC, and the SSC hands have their joint permanently attached (so you can't swap the HT hands onto SSC pegs.) While you can just keep the SSC hands, I think SSC Jedi Master (Prequel) Yoda is a better color match to the HT head, whereas the Mentor hands are a somewhat different, brighter green.

I would say that the mentor hands look a touch better to me in terms of realism versus the HT hands (eg. fingernails painted more realistically.)

I'm still completely on the fence for this. Can someone push me off into one direction or the other? On one hand I feel like Yoda is a pretty necessary character to have. But on the other hand, I'm feeling fairly underwhelmed by it. But on the other hand, Hot Toys almost always look way better in person. But on the other hand, I mean, damn, $200 for this? But on the other hand, when will there be another 1/6 Yoda that looks any better?

But on the other hand...

Yeah, the hair to me seems to be affixed to the sculpt in the same way sprinkles would be on an ice cream cone. It's not really long enough to futz and seems like it would just scrape off if you tried to do so.

IF Star Wars is your focus:

He is one of the most iconic characters, has a major role in the greatest film ever made and I doubt we will see a better version for many years.

When I purchased him as a kid in the 80s I never felt underwhelmed by him or the Jawa due to being smaller. In fact they where 2 of my favourites. I realise price difference is greater, but the comparison is still valid.

Yoda could see this dilemma coming though. 'Judge me by my size do you?'

If you take a slightly damp piece of paper towel to it, you can bend it upward and it stays (warning: you will lose a few hairs,) but it has a kind of Doc Brown thing where it looks like Yoda stuck his finger in the power socket. :lol

I've found that if you continue to work it, you can break up the upward pointing strands somewhat naturally, but getting them to curve in different directions to get that wild Yoda hair is tough. I guess the alternative for HT was to go with the kind of frizzed fiber your see inside a pillow, then we would have all been saying he looked like Gene Wilder. As it is, he has a bit of a Larry David look however.:lol

The price difference is only a factor of 100.:lol

If the price is the main issue. Buy it and sell off all the accessories and special base etc. Then you'll have a figure for around $100.

I also agree you won't be getting a better version than this for cheaper than this any time soon.
