Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS176 - The Avengers: 1/6th Scale Loki -MOVIE SPOILERS!

Haha, yeah, unfortunately that's the sad truth. I just don't see why, for example, Cap needs to change his costume again. Same goes for all of them, the Avengers outfits just seem like the definitive movie look for them. Well Iron Man aside, lol. Oh well, if the looks are cool I'll probably be glad for the change (i.e. Loki).

This is too awesome to be true, I couldn't help it, it had to be done, it totally fits to Tom's picture even if the perspective it's different.

I'm very torn on this. Often when costumes change for no reason, things start going downhill, see: Spiderman. Or you get a "what was wrong with the last one?" sort of thing, see: Captain America. Or you get a "JUST STOP IT ALREADY!!!" thing, like you do with Iron Man. How many frackin' suits of armor does one man need?!!!

Loki's Thor costume was great, and the Avengers one was great, got no problem with either one - which is rare. I feel that the second one is slightly less dressy but this is ok because he's here burdened with glorious purpose OOPS I MEAN, to do interplanetary battle. I remember seeing a picture with most of the Asgardians from Thor lined up, walking across one of the sets, and someone put a huge SWAG! caption across them. True that: those people are sporting some serious bling LOL. I like it tho.

Great photoshop there Pau. I am if possible EVEN MORE STOKED for this figure than the day I was when I preordered him. Figure. Of. The. Year. It better happen, if he loses FotY to some Hobbit or something i will be eternally pissed off.

Ok, I have to go sleep, just got off a 12-hour shift and got another one tonight. One day closer to Loki showing up on our doorsteps, demanding that we kneel :inlove

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS176 - The Avengers: 1/6th Scale Loki -MOVIE SPOILERS!

Do you guys understand that a LARGE part of the $$$$ Marvel makes come by licensing the carachters to toys, statues, HT figures and stuff, right?

So, yes, you can expect changes in the outfits for everyone, from movie to movie, exactly in order to provide some changes regarding the first versions, so they can sell new actions figures and toys...

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS176 - The Avengers: 1/6th Scale Loki -MOVIE SPOILERS!

Yeahp it's merchandising at work :thud:

..but I think the definitive outfit for me would be the avengers versions
cause it's the only movie i watched more than twice :rotfl

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS176 - The Avengers: 1/6th Scale Loki -MOVIE SPOILERS!

Loki is probably the only (or one of the only) characters I would buy a second figure of.

If they made THOR Loki, for example, I would be all over that.

But for the majority, one figure per character is enough for me.

Which explains why Batman is sporting a brand new suit in TDKR...

Oh, wait...

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS176 - The Avengers: 1/6th Scale Loki -MOVIE SPOILERS!

From a merchandising perspective its self explanatory why they're constantly changing their outfits.

"In character" I can even accept that a man like Tony Stark is hooked on innovating constantly, tweaking and adapting his suit in the pursuit of perfection.

Even Cap, I guess... its a uniform for him that is, in a way, the product of SHIELD's PR team, changing to fit the expectations of the focus groups.

But Thor? He's been alive for thousands of years, and the first film established that he doesn't really don the suit, per se, he does a "By the Power of Grayskull" thing, gets struck by lightning (completely unlike He-Man) and the suit just appears on him.

Why on Asgard would he change it? And how? LOL

Soooooooooooooo... you have no problem with the realism of the magically appearing scale armour/red cape combo, it's the idea that he might change his outfit that causes problems? :cuckoo:

Exactly. He summons his power from beyond or whatever and his armor appears on him. It is implied, however, that the power itself comes from Odin.

Consequently, I imagine that Odin granted him the Hammer and the power/armor as his warrior symbols. I posed two questions:

1. Why would he change his trousers into blue and red stripes? What's the point? He's the god of war and thunder, not fashion design. Warriors are supposed to be very fond of their armor so changing it constantly is more befitting of Loki as the God of chaos.

2. How does he do it? Since Thor has no magic (unlike Odin and Loki) I guess he'd need to go to daddy every time he wanted to make changes to his garb.

However, these are comic books and our subjective viewpoints so neither of us can be right or wrong. The "correct" explanation is whatever the CEO of Marvel or one of his underlings say it is. My attempts to "rationalize" is ultimately an exercise in futility (influenced by my many years of running D&D games :))

The hairline definitely does not fit. Even accounting for the perspective.

Face is spectacular no doubt.

Haha, that's great Nova I love it. I'm still not sure why my gf saw it though.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS176 - The Avengers: 1/6th Scale Loki -MOVIE SPOILERS!

I really think that we are getting a little OCD on the expectation of likeness being 'spot-on' these days.

These are sculpted by skilled people, by hand and some are going to be better than others, and occasionally there are one or two that totally rock...like this one! But even this one is not right, eg who mentioned the incorrect hair-line?

We need to get a more realistic approach on face sculpts as a whole I think. Like all things, some will be good, some not so good, some great, and occasionally some will be fantastic (like this and SUPEMRAN).

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS176 - The Avengers: 1/6th Scale Loki -MOVIE SPOILERS!

That is utterly hideous! Nothing like RDjr in any way. Looks like Tom Skerritt actually auditioned for the role.

No no no no no that's not what I think it is, is it? :thud:
