I that happens then I'll cough up cash for old falcon but I'm willing to take the risk rather than buy one I'm not really in love with.

I dont think anyone is saying you have to buy this one. Just saying the new Falcon might not happen like everyone thinks it will.

I agree, if this one is a total flop, I don't see them wanting to make another one. Of course the only way we know that it wasn't a flop is if it sells out.

If this becomes the next Angelica...forget it.

It's tough to say what they will do, and don't forget that Marvel may be at the peak of its popularity right now, for all we know. It's possible that some fatigue or disinterest will set in. I'm not saying no one will care, but if overall interest and popularity dip just a little, that could mean a lot for the more obscure characters/figures. In that case, who knows if characters like Falcon, Scarlet Witch, etc. will get additional figures made of them?

Another possibility is that another studio will move in and cannibalize some of the market. There are a lot of variables to consider.

BTW, Mackie is such a great choice for Falcon. I loved every scene of Winter Soldier and AoU that he was in. He just plays it so perfectly!

It is tough to say and there are a lot of variables in play. Not only may the movies experience fatigue, but the hobby may too at some point. The hobby has changed pretty drastically in the last few years, and not just in the steady price hikes; their rate of production has also grown considerably also. They went from under-doing lines to borderline overdoing them. Scarecrow/Demon Bats was their 10 year anniversary set and that was MMS140. 4-4½ years later we're looking at a "guess what MMS300 is going to be" contest. I mean I feel like I received my Man of Steel yesterday.

Personally I don't mind if they keep completing lines down to the Chitauri, but soon we're going to be 12 Caps, 6 Widows, 8 Thors and 432 Starks into it.

I pretty much agree with your thoughts. Everything has a lifecycle. Heck, even Apple will not be on top of the mountain forever.

Yup. How long Apple's, 1/6's or the MCU's life span will be, no one knows but in the immortal words of Agent Romanoff ... nothing lasts forever.

Maybe someone else has said that before too

It may not last forever, but it's possible they will last decades longer. Transformers and Star Wars have pretty much been on shelves for thier entire existence. Mattel and hasbro are both massive companies that have been around a long time. Bowen has been making statues for 30 years (maybe a bit less but a long while ). So it's possible hot toys can continue for 20 or more years in the future. Especially if films continue to do well and expand. Heck we have not even gotten into dc and Star Wars (new) yet and those two alone could (if done well in film and figure) carry 1/6 long into the future. 12 inch (essentially 1:6 scale) has been around since the beginning of figures. The first action figure was a late 1930s 12 inch superman. It wasn't until much later that figure shrunk down. So I don't think 1/6 is going anywhere as long as there's a market for toys.

Anything is possible but I'm not sure I see the high end adult collecting market having the same longevity has Hasbro and Mattel. Not at this rate of production and price increases. And those other companies are completely different animals as their products are much less expensive and are aimed at a much broader audience.

1/6 has been around a long time but it was predominantly military figures. That's the genre that HT started in as well until they broke the mold and starting with the MMS line.

But I think what Kia just said may represent how people who have been collecting a least a few years may view the trend of the hobby. I'm no old-schooler as I've only been collecting 1/6 for 3½ years but in that short time I've watched the change in production, quality and price run wild. I can only imagine how the guys who have been around for a long time see it. I guess all of that plus I already have a 120+ fig collection is where my thinking comes from. With the rate that the hobby is growing maybe there will be plenty new collectors to join in and feel differently, but I still can't see the bubble not bursting unless prices level out and stop increasing.

Yea he was. Oh, and he makes a damn nice figure too.

Considering its technically just another Iron Man armor, and we all no how well those sell. They probably don't even look at it as a War Machine but just another Iron Man. Where as figs like Falcon, Odin, Nick Fury, etc they are unique figs unto them selves. Speaking of Fury, I seem to remember some talk of people waiting for the Fury fig for the Winter Soldier movie, but yet that never happened, despite his pretty big role in it.

I'm not saying Hot Toys won't make a Falcon, I'm just saying it's not set in stone as some people seem to think it is.

Right , if you think about waiting for a"better Falcon", it might not happen , after all this Falcon .... Is pretty darn good !

I'm so torn. I really loved TWS and this Falcon is an awesome figure. But I'd rather have the newer CW one, if they make it, because I like the outfit better.

Barring an amazing coupon/deal, I think I might wait it out and see if they make a Falcon for CW.

Because a lot of people feel exactly that way, you're going to see this figure go down and down in price and value over the next year, IMO.
