I have a huge feeling that Hot Toys designs their toys based off of promo images without actually seeing the movie first.

That's why we got so many Iron Men from IM3 that appeared in the film for half a second or not at all, accessories that never appeared, ect.

Yeah, like that Hot Toys Winter Soldier Steve Rogers's damaged shield, it was not in the film at all, but it was a nice accessories to have.

It's obviously a rushed repainted release. Was the first figure to go up for PO almost half an year before the movie was released and was also released in Hong Kong well before the movie came out. They didn't wait at all with this one. Just wanted it out the door.

That sucks, and I don't think they will do a 2.0 or battle damaged version anytime soon..

I think Hot Toys rushed this figure. While the accessories they give are cool, they are not present in the film at all, exp like Tony's opened helmet, Mark 43 did not stand on or crush Ultron Mark 1 in the film and the arm rocket is absent in the film too. Hot Toys did not give us the weaponry in the film at all.

I am glad they rushed it instead of bringing it out the end of the year or next year. I could care less about accessories that I will leave in the box anyway.

Alright, got my 3-5 week process email. Out of curiousity, I've paid the NRD and had my payment switched to a single pay. When does SSC charge after this notice is sent generally??

Of course they design off the the information they get from Marvel ahead of time. If HT had to wait and see the film to get to work, we wouldn't see a single pre-order until 6 months after the movie was released, and we'd be waiting even longer for our figures than we already are.

Marvel gives HT the information they have at the time as part of the license agreement . Concept art, plot synopsis, whatever. But these movies get cut, edited and recut often right up until weeks before the premiere. They may tell HT that something is in the film, and six months later that thing is on the cutting room floor. That's hardly HT's fault.

Just like it's not HT's fault that the MK43 is a repainted MK42. That was Marvel's call. Now it's entirely possible that Marvel made that call in order to help all of their license holders reuse existing molds for product, but again, that call was made at a level higher than HT, and HT should not be receiving the flak for it.

I think the Mark 43 has cool accessories.
They've already done all the other bells and whistles on their other IM figure,
so I'd rather have this cool base plus the torn Ultron figure rather than another missiles or battle damaged parts that eventually
finds its way back in the box.

Fair point. I really do like the base and Ultron MK 1 it comes with

With each day that passes, I fear my chances of converting slip deeper into the abyss...

I think you have a good chance of converting. Many people eventually change their mind, days before its about to be shipped.
Or people sometimes dont have the funds or there was something wrong with the credit card so their PO gets cancelled, so you should have a pretty good chance converting.

Thanks for the perspective; I hope it comes to fruition. I PO'd on January 18th.

I know this has been asked before, but has anyone seen photos of the Ultron base being removed from the stand? I really don't want to have it there.

There are literally millions of pictures without Ultron on the stand. There may even be a few promo shots from Sideshow's site.

Sorry for the sarcasm but c'mon bud.

You sure? I'm not talking about Ultron only, I'm talking about the diorama top piece from the base.

Oh...you didnt say you didnt order til Jan 18th. Youre out of luck then man.

lol...I'm kidding. I still think you have a good shot cause this is a major release.
Almost everytime I've gone on waitlist, it converted.
The only time it didnt is on those ultra limited versions, like the battle damaged Mark 7.
But everytime I couldnt make up my mind and had to go on the waitlist, most of them have converted.
