:exactly: I have focused my collection. It's easier on the wallet and takes away the impulse buying. I do see a LOT of figures that i would like to have but they do not fit with my collection so it makes it easier to pass on them.

If only more people had the will power like you, of course then HT might not make as much stuff for us to buy lol.

It's definitely a tough call! Especially being in Canada, as there are other additional costs to take into account...like the horrible dollar right now. I do have the restraint to know that I only want one of each Avenger. There's so much temptation, but prices add up SO quickly now when calculating multiple figures that I couldn't justify having multiple armors when there are so many other figures I'd rather have instead.

So now the question is: is this the Iron Man armor I want? It's a gorgeous piece, and I love the colour balance this time out. I also really like the battle damage, as well as the Ultron drone! I mean, the base is incredible really. But this would be it. My one Iron Man. Is this the one to go for, or do I hold out for the next MK and see how it looks? Do I wait for future releases in general?

The big selling point for this piece is the base. I love all the poses they've got going on the site, and everything I mentioned above, but the base just makes it that much cooler. It tells a little story all by itself. I guess my main competition going on in my head is that I'm waiting for Civil War Cap, because I feel that'll be a great one. Not sure why, but I do. I also think it could bring out an awesome Iron Man figure as well...so is that worth waiting for?

I'm SOMEWHAT under the gun in terms of making a choice that'd save me $25-$30 (I'm able to pre-order it for $410 all inclusive -- ie: taxes, exchange rate) but I mean, if I decide later and have to spend the extra bit it's not the end of the world...it's just always nice to save.

Anyone have any thoughts? I know it really comes down to what I want, how I feel about it and what I can afford...I just thought I'd ask for some opinions while weighing the options in my head.

This release is also diecast. Don't know if that's important to you, but the civil war IM may not be. Plus, the resale value have been pretty good for Iron Man as well. If diecast is important, I think this one would be a good choice considering your comments.

All I'd say is, if your always going to be waiting to see what gets released next then will you ever get to buy anything? If you want an Iron Man figure & also other characters from AoU then this should be the one you choose as it's movie specific & goes with the other superheroes in the line up..., is it not far better to have the group of figures you want & thus be able to appreciate & enjoy them rather than waiting years for another figure to be made on the off chance you might like it more? :)

Is there a benefit or downfall to die cast, or is it just the price bump and the fact that some of it is metallic? That's not a big deal to me overall, but it sounds like it may set the figure apart from the rest...make him more...Iron >.>

I'm not sure I'm going for an AoU theme so much as just ending up with the squad of Avengers as a whole in the end. It's very true about the waiting though. I just mentioned that to my wife the other day about something she was interested in. Always waiting for the next big thing. I do like that this one -- with the stand -- kind of tells a battle story on its own. And there are no guarantees with future MKs, this is true.

I think I'd be less tempted if the base wasn't as cool as it was. There will no doubt be many more Iron Man figures; though these types of bases don't seem to appear very often. I'm a fan of more red than gold -- even though I don't hate the last suit in the slightest. But had this just been the suit by itself without a unique base, I think I'd be more apt to hold out for future pieces. But there IS a base, and it does rule...I'm thinking that was the selling point for a lot of people so far as well :lol

To be honest although I like diecast, you can't really tell you've got a partly metal figure unless you handle it so I'd say it's probably not worth spending extra on if there's a plastic option..., I just like the idea of metal being used on Iron Man I guess. :) Have you thought about looking at the new version of the mark III suit? That is a real beauty & well worth considering if your looking for no version in particular..., it's diecast too. I'd say the mark 43 is worthy of consideration though, the base is very cool & it made the decision to preorder it all the more easier for me, I collect Iron Man figures though so they all appeal really. :)

if this is to be ur ONLY iron man, then Id say this is the one to get :)

personally, its my favorite, appearance-wise so far... & we all know how big & impactful everyone in this movie will be, ESPECIALLY iron man!

just my 2 cents to try to help u out

As nice and unique as the base is, how much you all wanna bet we'll be seeing more of it in the future? Any takers? :lol

I prefer uniformity myself & would rather have the same bases for all my Iron Man figures, this one has a cool base though so I'm allowing for it but I'd not want it as a regular thing if I have a choice. :)

Problem being none of them use the same bases anyway, not the ones between movies nor some of them in the same movie (die cast vs plastic from IM 3).

I quite like the design of the bases for AoU in general especially the metal name plates compared to previous ones.

I think they are similar except for the angles in the front of the avengers one, I actually like them both, and I hope the design becomes standard

I'll have to have a closer look at the base then, I've preordered a Stormtrooper figure & I'm still on the wait list for the Shadowtrooper..., I thought the only difference between them was the colour, red/black for the Stormtrooper & grey/black for Vader.

I believe all of the HT SW figures share the same base, it looks like grating. The only differences are in color and nameplates. The standard AoU base, at least at the moment, is a black hexagon.

I really like the standard bases. They are simple and small enough, but unique to the line and different than the normal ones. Me gusta :)
