If everyone was always holding out for the next figure no one would ever buy anything

This. Its an approach to collecting that doesn't make much sense to me yet its big with alot of people. Why wouldn't I want different Caps? Or Thors? There's a reason all 40 of the Iron Man suits are so popular in this community.

As of now, I own every Cap I like (AOU Cap is on PO). GA Cap was terrible so I skipped him. I own every Thor I like - meaning just Avengers Thor and Sleeveless Thor from Dark World. 2011 Thor needed work so I skipped him.

I agreed, SS probably got stuck with many cancellations after how horrible the Stealth suit came out and AoU Cap prototype coming out the same time. They probably don't want no backsies again in case the AoU suit comes out horrible and they become overstocked.

This. Though I do respectfully disagree with you on GA Cap. Other than his HS, the figure itself is very nice. The only issue I have with trying to get the older versions of characters is that they are so pricey. I just need Rescue Cap too

Because many collectors only want 1 representation of a character in their collection, and the thinking is that the newest release will be the best on most fronts (portrait, paint app, tailoring, body, etc).

Imo you're comparing apples to oranges when comparing Cap, BW, Thor, Wolvie or any other human fig to Iron Man armored figures.

Most notably is that the Eastern market is CRAZY for mech-related merch. IM armored figures also offer much more variation between releases whether it be the suit design, color scheme, size, etc then human figures do so as a display they offer more variation then say 10 Jackman Wolverines.

I don't think its just the eastern market that's in love with iron man.

I also don't think the majority of the suits are so unique. About half are just repaints. Outside of a few they are all pretty much just different colors of the same suits. With human figures usually the only thing that's the same (outside of a few exceptions like thor sleeved ect) is the head. And even that is often different in some way. I don't think DOFP wolverine is closer to origins or "the" wolverine then Midas is to mk7 or mk3 to bd mk3 to DC mk3, or mk42 to mk43..same with AoU cap and his early ww2 uni (for the life of me I can't recall the name of that figure right now)

It's indivudual taste and for some trends.

Seriously, they need to make more Cap figures. Sheesh. Also, just realized the 2 pack isn't in there or my Bucky Cap. I need a new photo.
