No matter how many pics I see online (have not seen it with my own eyes), this figure looks way off. I don’t see a once of likeness. Personally I se Tom Cruise before any Hamill.

Apologies for the horrible mobile pic. I got 2 of the sandtrooper stands I ordered today and I think Luke and Old Ben look more at home on these.

I've got two more coming for R2D2 and C3PO. Pity I won't have the metal name plates for those two.

Nice pic, I prefer the sand bases for these characters too. The obvious exception would be luke with his training helmet and gear. Ben's base doesn't even work for dueling vader with the mismatched colors. Parts have been sort of hard to come by for these hot toys star wars figures thus far.

Or Jan Michael Vincent.

If Mark Hamill had been too busy doing cartoon voice work he could've stepped in as Master Luke in TFA.

Recognition of likeness is entirely subjective, so I've given up trying to argue people into changing their minds in this regard. So....if you like the character and want him represented in your collection, order him up and see what your eyes tell you when you have him in hand, and return him if the sculpt doesn't work for you. For me, he's 95% to 98% there, and the JC Hong painted proto was as close to 100% as I've ever seen in a figure.

But....I firmly believe that if we all transported back to 1977 and Mark Hamill walked into the room, half of us wouldn't recognize him. That's how personal and subjective facial recognition is. Now, translate that to a 1/6 representation? The Wild West...

This Luke is very impressive overall, with a well painted and lifelike sculpt.

The problem, as QGF implied, is that Mark Hamill looks so different in different photos. So pinning down the definitive Luke isn't easy.

...which is more HT-like.

The HT may be a little too thin in the face.

It's off on some pics but inhand it is way better. also top lighting doesn't do well with this figure.

Kuat, I see two pictures of Eric Stoltz dressed up as Luke.

Hollywood's best kept secret was that Mark Hamill never appeared in a Star Wars film. He was Luke Skywalker's James Earl Jones and just provided the voice. :wink1:

The SS X-Wing Luke is a better Hamill sculpt.

The only photo I think I took without the helmet was the post destruction one:

Hamill really is a shape shifter in ANH. Hair looks different in every other scene, as does his face. Slightly ajar mouth would have really served Luke well for ANH. The slack-jawed farmer boy. ROTJ his face looks more consistent from beginning to end.

I mean look how different he looks:

A lot of people seem to have problems with the headsculpt for this luke. I've not got mine yet, can anyone confirm that it looks good in a detolf with dioder lights installed? I have a feeling with a bit of correct lighting and the right pose, This is gonna look brilliant on display.

I'm actually stopping at Ikea tomorrow to pick up a lighting set for my Detolf(s) cause the round overhead LED fixtures they have aren't even close to what they need. I don't want too much light so may try one LED strip across the front of each shelf, we'll see. The figure definitely looks better in hand and doesn't photograph very well; I'm glad to have it...see the pic on thread page #283.

Nice one, I'd go for the ikea dioder light strips. I'm using them and they are brilliant. And thanks I'll have a look!

Do you use one strip across the front of each display area...does one strip provide enough light?

You think that's Hamill?

You need a new pair of glasses, pal.

You might want to get your eyes checked. Or at least hit spell check next time you post. Can't really trust a guy's eyesight who can't see spelling errors.

That's what I did, I think it provides enough light and looks great. I've considering adding a second but didn't want to add too much wiring, plus it really is enough light to really highlight the figures but not overwhelm the room, and allows for some shadowing depending on how far back you put the figures. Ran the wires into a wire hiding tube that runs along one of the shelf supports. Here's one of the shelves.

I put mine near the front so from the outside view it will look better but I found myself having to move the figures closer to the front of the detolf rather than right in the middle for better lighting. Maybe test one out and decide what works best for you.

I think he's being sarcastic.
