Expression is still peculiar, but see this looks better than it does in the previous 3 pictures of it. Still going to give the nod to the HT sculpt though.

Please. The HT has almost nothing in common with Hammil aside from Blue eyes.

In that particular picture (which is the first one I saw of this sculpt), I think the likeness is superior, but the expression is a little wonky to me. Prefer the expression of the HT sculpt.

In the pictures of it in posts 4202, 4203, 4209 and 4215, I prefer both the likeness and the expression of the HT sculpt. Not sure if it's just the angles, but the sculpt looks nothing like Hamill to me in those images for some reason, despite it being the same sculpt.

As I mentioned a few pages back, the HT sculpt sort of reminds me of this scene:

The Jinx eyes are too big, but the bigger issue is its pupil size, especially compared to his Han Solo. Neither sculpt has really captured how thin Lukes nose was either.

I have to agree with SilverStar on this one. The HT sculpt only really misses MH in the hair and slightly in the eye size but the eyes are debatable depending on the scene. Put Jnix hair sculpt on the HT head and you'd have a great Luke. I'm a huge fan and owner of Jnix's Han but his Luke's proportions are more like a caricature of Luke than a real person.

Yeah, the main issue with HT Luke is the hair - it's like a tall copper helmet. Really wish there was a fix for it (unfortunately it's BOTH height and color, so repainting doesn't solve the issue.)

And agree on the HT eyes being a bit narrow for a "typical" Luke look. HT Luke for me was like the cliche though - while I didn't love it in pics, in hand it's unmistakably MH to me. The HT Han sculpt I disliked in pics and in-hand however (but re-bought the outfit for the Jnix head.)

I also own and love the Jinx Han which somehow captured both the likeness AND attitude of HF, but the Jnix Luke I didn't get because though aspects are an improvement on the HT - e.g. the Jnix hair is WAY better - it had several issues I just couldn't overlook.

I actually like the way the hair is styled on the HT sculpt over the Jnix one, the bangs in particular. It seems like more of the hair falls over his forehead than the Jnix sculpt. As TB mentioned, it's just the height and the color of the hair that's really holding the entire sculpt back.

Likeness on the HT one is indeed a bit off (looks better at certain angles), but I think it's more there than on the Jnix one and overall prefer, the HT sculpt.

So we're saying, one that wasn't painted by the actual artist, looks bad - and that even the one that has been painted by the artist - doesn't look anything like A New Hope, Luke Skywalker?

Tough crowd...

Did someone say the Silentsurfer paint-up looked bad? :horror:dunno

I didn't catch that and if someone did, they're nuts. The sculpt does have a couple of issues, but SS is amazing at accentuating the good parts of a sculpt and downplaying the lesser aspects.

The one caveat that should always accompany SS's stellar work however is it does not come cheap - just pointing out for the uninitiated I mean.

You know between the Jnix sculpt and the Hot Toys sculpt I feel like the perfect Mark Hamil lies somewhere in the middle for me. I love the hair on the Jnix sculpt so much more than the Hot Toys hair and the finer details like the moles and defining features of Hamil's face seem to really pop on the Jnix sculpt and I love that, but it almost feels like a caricature to me in a way. I've felt for a while that the eyes on the Hot Toys sculpt just weren't even close to Hamil, and it seems like Jnix has come so much closer to getting those eyes just right but they still feel just a little too big and "fish eyed" to me. Maybe its just the expression on the Jnix sculpt that is throwing me off a bit, but still such an incredible sculpt and I see why people love it. I certainly hope Hot Toys takes some notes from Jnix on the features that stand out on Luke and improve their sculpt in the future. That being said, I'm still very happy with my base Luke sculpt.

The paint apps are great, its the actual sculpt that's the issue.

Guess, I must be nuts, cuz they both look bad to me. The Hot Toys sculpt is the only one that looks like Mark Hamill to me.

Yeah, I see the Jnix sculpt issues with the eyes and the expression, and I'm really not a fan of how the Jnix paint looks on the eyes , but to say the Jnix sculpt itself looks nothing like MH and that the silentsurfer paint-up looks bad is bizarre.

Just got my custom head, and I'm very happy with it. I'll whack it with some dullcote, but I'm pleased with expression, eye placement, skin tone, etc...This is so much more Luke than HT to me. Hope Jnix tackles Old Ben next.

Congrats Darth! Looks great!

Quick PS to soften the reflection in Leia and Luke's eyes.

There must me something wrong with my eyes, because all I can see is the closest representation of all three of the characters I've ever seen - regardless of scale.

I think it looks a touch better in person than it photographs. In person it is clearly "more Hamill" than the original sculpt. Han set the bar crazy high for custom work....I think this is very good. Han is still king of the mountain.
