I am ashamed to admit that I had no clue there was a difference. Why would there be a difference?

That is shameful. ;). But pretty much every main character who had a lightsaber in the movies with the exception of Mace Windu had a different saber in each episode. So far, TFA may change that for Luke.

Yoda's had more weathering in ROTS based on what MR did, but his didn't change really either.

But In the OT, it was always different per episode.

And HERE we go.....

Probably because the people making it at the time didn't have that eye for the details like fanboys have today and it was just a job to them (to get it close enough)?:dunno

But that's just it... they are big fans over at HT; so that makes it puzzling. I imagine it could be some kind of licensing mandate, but likely it's just an oversight. But I know the inaccuracy was mentioned back when the proto was shown, so no real reason it couldn't have been corrected.

I really like the Jingobell shots. But the likeness might have lost half a step or so from the proto. But its really hard to tell since everyone's lighting and angles are different.

Yeah, it looks like the details of the sculpt softened a bit, which lost some of the personality of the original.

Part of it might have also had to do with availability of parts/problems with the original they had encountered. (i.e. the tracks might have fallen off a few times, hence the screws)

He does come packed with extras doesn't he?

Looks great, can't wait. :)

Viewing him sideways in the box, he really does remind me of the Bespin DX in that shot. If it's true that that they reworked the Harrison Ford Indy sculpt for their Han (which it really seems they did) then I supposed it's likely they used the Bespin Luke as a starting point for this figure as well. I still prefer this one, though the hair on Bespin Luke was more natural.

Bespin Luke's right arm can already be removed. Probably the same but just in case of get another body and arm. Would be nice to have an extra body for my Beapin Luke to make him shorter.

I'll have to check, but I think Bespin Luke's arm detaches in a different way. Hope I'm wrong as I'd love a light-up sabre for both figures.

As for the sculpt being off; to me, it looks like it might be the hair being a bit too dark that is throwing off the overall look. A little drybrushing should fix that up. At least, that what it looks like to me.
