Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

[...]But then again, I held a similar view of the HT Obi-Wan (no Guiness to be found) while others argued passionately that he was the best likeness of the line. Now that I have him too..........

Agreed that arguing likeness is *almost* pointless. Either you're happy with what you get or you're not. Now some things are measurable, but that's another ballgame. Tiny deviations at this scale add up, it's really weird.

By the way, QGF ... I sold Obi Wan!! :rotfl

The 12-back run didn't feel right after all. Glad you bought him though! :monkey3

Out of all the Star Wars figures
Hot toys leia is best, but then she only had a baby face in 1976 face not much detail and character she was only 19

Am I the only one who does not like Luke / Mark. I bought all main figures so far but avoided luke. To me while he was the "hero" he really sucked big time and I found him a complete sissy. :(
Leia looks great and I actually like Obi wan as the best Star Wars release ever!
Waiting for Vader to come through but very scared of the whole electronics accessibility issue ... But over all soaking it in with ht Star Wars :)

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Maybe the imperfections in the sculpt are somehow magnified in the 3D to 2D translation. All I can tell you is that my Luke looks like Luke.

I always tell myself that I'll never argue likeness with people because of the subjectiveness of it all, but I always wind up doing just that when people say things like 0% Hamill, or that the sculpt is terrible.:banghead Yes, the proto was a work of art, and the production sculpt fell short of that high mark, but to imply that if you saw this sculpt without the Luke garb under it, you'd have no idea who this was supposed to be is utterly unbelievable, as in I don't believe this could be a serious statement.

But maybe it's just me...:dunno

I agree with this

Great pics, James! That's one realistic looking figure. Best looking sculpt outa the whole group to me.

Out of all the Star Wars 1/6 scale
I think C3PO tamashii is the best

Awesome James! She looks fantastic. Love how menacing Vader looks next to her. :clap

Most of the really hot women have very symmetrical faces so that has to help the sculptor too. I even saw a tv show on the subject, with John Cleese of all people. It boiled down to the hotter the woman the more symmetrical face.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I think Luke’s likeness level is with Bruce Banner and Ichabod Crane. I have seen in person and the 2D/3D comparison are the same. In no way am I slamming those who purchased Luke (were all collectors), its just unfortunate that the likeness falls short. Especially when side by side with Leia which is on the “BD Robocop” level of likeness.

Lets face it if your going to list all the recent OT SW in order of best sculpt you will find Luke on the bottom. Personally I think Leia and Obi are top two.

Great line-up. Definitely share your thoughts there, James. I put Chewie closely behind him as he looks great on the shelf, but 3PO is much more spot on. As great as the stormtroopers are, they still come across a bit like action figures compared to Chewie and 3PO.

Hence why this is very subjective. Obi was one of the most split figures as far as likeness goes. A lot of people put Luke up there after Leia too. The only thing everyone agrees on is that Leia is the best.

AGREED!!! :) TBH I have never seen OBI in person. My opinion was based on online images. Luke I have seen in person.

The designs for ROTJ Princess Leia in Boushh disguise and Lando are very interesting and would capture my interest BUT I don’t know if I would drop $354 CAN (based on $219US) for them. I guess time and exchange rate will only tell!!
