Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Weight does effect your cheeks and makes them rounder.

Sure, but the sculpt is rounder still than she appeared in the movie. IMO putting this figure along side the others is going to make it stick out quite obviously - it's just so much better than the others that there's no point in comparing them.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I agree on all points here.

Perhaps, but that doesn't mean this sculpt still can't be a tad too round for how she actually looked in ANH.

I dont disagree, but it could be the angels and lighting, you know the story in hand it will prob look great.

True, but i think in hand it wont disappoint and well forget all about that.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

This figure (and farmboy Luke to some degree) seems like the only HT SW sculpt - and I mean even including Vader and Chewy - that has been totally nailed likeness-wise to most people's satisfaction judging by the comments. Sort of surprising really.
I still think if I was just trying to get figures as close to perfect as possible I'd get Leia and a couple Stormtroopers and that's about it. But that's not the most interesting display.

I think I agree with Jaymas that the lips just need to be a bit bigger and poutier. But it's a minor thing and it's still clearly an outstanding likeness.

I think the confidence level that this figure will look great is very high by almost everyone; including myself. I think the ".01%" inaccuracies we are talking about is just making conversation. I do look forward to seeing in hand pictures, or in person, as soon as possible though. The prototype pictures are so good and so well received, I just hope this isn't setting us up for a disappointment once we get the production versions in hand. I'm not going to assume that's going to happen though.

Absolutely is a minor thing. I think most people wish Ben, Han and even Luke were this close in accuracy when it comes to likeness - not that any of those are bad, it's just Leia is just so much better. If I had rank them in terms of "likeness" I would say Leia is the best, followed by Luke, then Han and then Ben. (I am sure it could be argued that Han and Luke should switch places)

If you're happy with how the Luke sculpt came out with the Stormtrooper figure than you should have no worries with the regular release. Same mold.

Why not?

This is the rumor that never dies, wonder if this time it'll pan out and be true - (it's come up many times)

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Interesting. I can understand why the Slave Leia name might sound a bit iffy these days, and why they might not want to sexualize the character as much as before, but I don't really see what the problem is with the costume itself. Especially considering it was featured in a PG rated family movie full of puppets and teddy bears. And is regarded as one of the most memorable and iconic costumes of the entire saga.

Although that said, as far as HT figures go I think I'd much rather have a Hoth Leia or Endor Leia before a Slave Leia.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Hoth Leia all the way, man.

I get why we all love Slave Leia, and why it's iconic etc etc, but I'm really not sure why anyone would want a figure of it. It's literally just going to be a doll with a little plastic bikini. It will never not look silly.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

A girl... in a bikini... who was a slave to a giant slug... in a 80s sci-fi movie is now considered corrupting the youth?

I mean, parents should definatley be worried what there kids look at in a toy aisle, yup, not what they look at on online 24/7.

Disney will probably release a special, special edition of Jedi with Leia covered up [emoji85]

It's absolutely ridiculous! Pirates of the Caribbean was a Disney property and they didn't have a problem with Elizabeth Swan pulling a sawed off shot gun out of her crotch. Apparently hidden where the sun don't shine. That seems a lot more "risqué than leia in a bikini. No one is calling for that scene to be removed or covered up.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Isn't "Princess Jasmine" wearing a blue bikini all the time?

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I think it likely has more to do with the moniker "Slave Leia" in conjunction with a scantily-clad female. These people seem to forget context -- that she's a powerful, resourceful princess and leader that has been forced into slavery by an evil villain. If she was just a regular whore I could understand the concern.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

They should just rebrand her as prisoner Leia.
