Even if that's the case, it's still a long way from the audience of the films. And, again, there is nearly no real public advertising or visibility. Look at all the coverage BvS and avengers and Thor and Spider-Man get. And not just at USA film premier. But when it opens in Europe that's more. Then China. Then when the S&w releases. When it hits box office milestones. When Halloween costumes come out. The visibility on major tent pole films is so much stronger then a tv show. Very few shows get figure lines(that are not cartoons). And even less get adult aimed collectibles(statues, prop replicas, figures). And when they do (x-files, lost, smallville, supernatural) the lines are usually not fast movers. For hot toys the releases are not designed to sit in a store. Not for it to be a success for hot toys. Hot toys gauges its success based on the initial PO (if it's popular during PO they can up production, but after the number is set..they have a predetermined cut off...that's it.)

If you take a show like Walking Dead that had 23 million viewers that's still hundreds of times less then most tent pole films. And they have figures made. That do alright. But are not super popular. And when compared to Star Wars or Spiderman or iron man offerings in the same scale...it's not even close.

All of that is coupled with the the logistics.

Personally I think the figure would sell alright. Probably not a big hit. And after daredevil and punishers (another issue...each season would require a new license) not much potential. I am unsure if the license would be worth that risk. And if it where your money (it can costs tens of thousands to secure a License, make a prototype. And get tooling) would you rather invest in a large risk with little potential for tooling reuse or say superman or batman or wonder women..or the main characters from the other 40 major tent pole films slated in the next five years?

Okay, that you're absolutely right about. Good post, man. Well, I guess we just have to hope that the Netflix/tv characters just pop up in Infinity War or a film sooner or later then, huh?

Idk, I feel like asking JC Hong the possibility of figures from the Netflix series

That means little. Two of the most hated movies on this site are two of the most successful for hot toys (Aou and ironman 3)

I loved AoU, it was better than the first one. IM3 was great until the twist, from there it was a turd sandwich.

Great post, Motux. Agree on all points.

I liked AoU better than the first Avengers also actually. The first one was a lot more fun, but the overall MCU storyline is a bit more developed and unfolded by AoU and there was a lot more going on, which I preferred. The main thing I didn't really care for (if I had to pick something) was the seemingly forced, random fling between Banner and Romanoff. Although I suppose you could say the same thing between her and Rogers in TWS, but TWS was a little more intimate being that they were the only two main Avengers in the film and were working closely alongside one another. "Bannmanoff" didn't ruin the film for me though by any means.

Thanks. That's not usually how these discussions go. Lol

Personally I would LOVE to see some figures from TV shows. From arrow to shield and daredevil. And anything is possible. But it's just not a good chance. I've been dropping hints to my friends at hot toys for sometime. I would like these as much as the next guy.

Idk, I feel like asking JC Hong the possibility of figures from the Netflix series

You can ask but he couldn't tell you yes even if it was possible. Especially if it was. When they acquire a license they announce it. The best you could get is a "anything is possible". Which means nothing really. Asking these type of questions is really pointless. If they could say something or had something to say they would. And given that every figure and toy site, or magazine of the same subjects on the planet would give them tons of free press to break any news there's really no way they would reveal anything like that on one employees Facebook page. And, given Jc was told he had to pull a photo of a product from marvel (ant-man) that they already had the license for becuase that sculpt wasn't approved and he didn't have permission to share it...seems pretty unlikely they would risk pissing off their biggest partner.

So, asking if HTs has ever considered doing figures from the Netflix, or any small screen show for that matter, would be pointless. Okay thanks man

Wasn't trying to be a jerk. But it's true. They couldn't tell you anything even if they wanted to. If they said..yes we thought about it..then everyone gets all excited about the "upcoming" figures. If they only actually thought about it and never do it people call them liars and get mad and say they will never believe them. If they say, no we have not thought about it. Then you get an equally pissed off bunch of people. He posted a photo of half the Antman head and said its not approved "yet" and people where upset and saying it was disapproved. That's part of why it was pulled.

If they actually do want to make the figures then saying anything publicly could effect the negotiations. If the don't plan on making them there is zero reason to actually say that. Becuase things can change or that could cause the loss of a customer or sale. And if things changed or he showed up in movie you would still get the people that get upset saying they lied or you can't believe what they say ect.

There's is absolutely no benifit to hot toys to say anything until they have a deal in place (which means it would get announced like BvS and terminator gen ect). So, sorry, but yes, there's really no point in asking.

Well maybe if enough people ask it will motivate them to make the figure or pursue the license... Asking isn't pointless. Even if you don't get the answer you want.

Your correct that these are not mass market. But it's a numbers game. There's only going to be a small percentage of any fan base that will become customers. For a company that doesn't use advertising and is pretty much just word of mouth they need to start with a large potential customer pool.

And it's not in a vacuum. The company has to deciede which items to invest time and money in. If they do a daredevil that's one slot they take from one of those movie figures.

Interest is always going to be an issue. He's not a top tier character.(not knocking the character. Just how it is. )When superman is a slow mover I wouldn't count on a daredevil from an Internet only service.

Not saying it won't sell. No one knows until/if it went up. But from a business standpoint it's ten times the risk. Less(free) advertising and interest generation compared to a film. Which has all the theater buildup and then again on the did release. With TV shows you don't get that, and with Netflix it's even less visibility then broadcast. It would require an entire new business relationship. Since marvel split the movie studio out on its own and left the tv with Ike. Which means they could predict production times at all until they worked with tjem(the studios get approvals of figures meaning the timetable for release is at best 50/50 between hot toys and the licensee).

I would love to see it. I really liked the show. But there's just to much to overcome I think. At least at this point.

Unless more people ask then watch the show...then it won't make a difference.

Then don't read it. I know, two paragraphs is SUPER hard to manage. And no pictures. It's like the worst thing ever. So hard..so time consuming. Gotta get back to pretty pictures and important other work on a forum about toys. No time. So busy...so busy I take the time to copy and paste items from five seperate posts into one post and find a video for it...all of which actually takes longer then it would to read it. But..mama said....

Is anyone planning on getting that 10cm "Ant-Man on Flying Ant"? I'm kind of torn. Just wondering what the rest of you think.

Have you had a look at the king arts ant man stuff?

There's the static antman on a bullet 1/1 scale piece. Looks half decent and the price tags good too. From what I've seen on eBay
