It's a title individuals give. There is no official "figure of the year". That's just ridiculous.

Not ridiculous. Sideshow could easily mention something like that in their Youtube blog deal, even if unofficial (just for fun).

It's not reality, but it's also not ridiculous.

Picking between this & mark 46, finally pulled the trigger on this. Hope it's gonna be like when I got the wm mk1. Agonizing wait but the payoff is well worth it!

Yeah it's pretty hard to tell at this point but my guess is that it will be like the mk45 1/4. Having both the button and pull down. This is, from what I have heard, supposed to be the top of the line best iron man figure. A couple of the designers at hot toys have the mk6 as their favorite suit so I expect it to be the best figure yet at 1/6. Just my guess though.

From the pics it looks like they have the button but also the gold thigh section extends down to increase the range of motion.

With the shoulders I think the 1/4 45 is the gold standard as well. With ball joint on the pads with a secondary gap cover piece under that. But whatever they do I expect this figure to be the best figure yet, engineering wise. Usually how they do it. And as I said this is an armor a lot of the hot toys folks really like.

Agreed on all points, but I'd put the DC Mark 1 War Machine up as a better example of the new standard for 1/6 scale IM figures, just because it's in the same scale. I think HT learned their lesson with the DC MK 3 -- I don't expect to see them regressing their designs. They have been doing a phenomenal job of giving us better than advertised figures of late. Fully agree that this is going to be a release to remember.

:yess:

Looking through the pics of this again and I have to say it looks like it's going to be THE 1/6 scale IM to have. This armour did so much and thanks to the massive amount of accessories you'll able to recreate just about everything. Glad to see it looks like the legs are going to have a drop down mechanism too, always irked me with the Diecast III that you couldn't move the legs without having the 'panty panels' all over the place.

They'd probably give figure of the year to one of the ones that they need to move. If Jake Sully was still in stock it'd be him.

Yeah it would be silly to have ssc name a figure of the year. Would be like asking a Microsoft employee to name the years best tech product.

I'd imagine it would be updated with the times as was WM.
I wish they would have done a side by side like the did with wm. Overall I want to say he looks beefier.

Yes it's retooled. There's no way they could do it (with the announced parts and features) without updating the tooling.
The the more I looked I could tell. Especially the head and chest / legs. I just want to insure the newer tony stark heads won't look goofy.

I can't think of any reason they would go back and reuse a 6-7 year old head when they have made a bunch since then. Besides, the masked head from that time period is still one of the best looking sculpts so even if they did reuse it, it wouldn't look goofy. The only really bad ones where the mk3 originals.

Pretty sure the new helm with the original body would look goofy, as in disproportionate. They did rehash the IV and VI though as China exclusives. Let's not touch on how many VII's are still coming out. Just some observations and chatting man.

There's a difference between a repaint/re-release and an update.

And if the new figure where to use the old head for some reason(again, can't see any reason why they would given what we know) it wouldn't look goofy unless they do some crazy scale change. You can throw the first WM head on the diecast body and unless you are really looking the difference is minor. Can you tell, sure. Does it look goofy, no.

Anyway, If they where using the old head they wouldn't blur it in the pics, nor would it say it came with a new head. And given that it's at least partly diecast obviously there has to be new tooling, as the production process is different for plastic and DC. But it's irrelevant anyway. As they said it's a new head.

Well, I just caved and pre-ordered with my $20 coupon code. This thing, with it's improved articulation and proportions over the old plastic version, will be epic next to diecast WM1. This will be a long wait.
