I remember getting the first Sideshow Vader and being happy that we finally had a "great Vader" in 1:6. And HT Star Wars was still a pipe dream.

I had the honor of being the first to get that thing in hand. For me, it was stepping up from Hasbro and Medicom. There were some great leaps forward, but even then, the flaws obvious and posed a challenge as a toy photographer.

Could someone do me the favor of putting up a list of all the trusted websites for Vader Hottoys spare parts? Shippings Europe, Spain?

Thx

The SSC ANH Vader was like 20" tall from memory. :lol

However the jumpsuit it had is still the best one ever made - and (for now at least - and 15 years on) seems to be holding up against pleather pox.

And they won't catch up to Too Much Garlic's Vader for another 20 years.

When TMG finally starts selling full printed sets (which it seems like we're finally within the year that will happen) we will finally get eerie-real Vaders and all the HT figs will be turned into the placeholders the SSC Vaders were before them.

I do really like this ROTJ figure but the helmet, while a substantial step forward over the ESB version, still feels like a slightly "toy-like" 1/6 helmet and not that great/eerie feeling "shrunken down screen character" like the small number of truly sublime 1/6 figs delivers.

It's clear after all these years that delivering a sublime figure really requires the level of knowledge and obsession people like TMG have.

Pardon my ignorance but who or what is Too Much Garlic?

It's a pretty long thread... :lol

If/when it is complete it will essentially be a precise replication of the costume (helmet and armor pieces) down to the minutest details, especially the imperfections, in 1/6. It's worth glancing over the whole thread as an example of the kind of tenacity, knowledge (and obsession) necessary to truly nail these complex, hand-made props/costumes.

The good news is that, despite the decade long timeline, it seems 2025 will be the year these parts will finally be in the hands of collectors.

Bit of a personal story

Ordered an ROTJ Vader helmet around the end of last year from Depot

Delayed, couldn't be shipped because of the Canada Post strike

It finally got shipped last week

Ended up in Los Angeles during the fire

I wanted an ROTJ helmet, not a TFA helmet...
