1/6 Hot Toys - POTC5 - Jack Sparrow Figure (Artisan Edition + Regular) Collectible Figure

Got my Dx06 hat in. Compared to the way oversized hat this one has a pretty tight fit, at first it kept popping up shooting from his head. But when holding it in place longer it stays there, i think it needs to stretch up just a tad. Either way the proportion is much better. Sorry for the bad photo these grey days are terrible when shooting pics. View attachment 751280

Nice. Glad it works even with the Artisan. I just sold my extra one to a fellow collector. They were worried it wasn't going to fit.

Best establishing shot of a "hero' character ever. Would love a sunken sail base.

If they ever do CotBP. This HAS to be the diorama base.

Fail that, I'll take a Isla de Muerta grotto base with water around it. But if they go that route I want Barbossa.

Ahh, the glory days of bonus features, back when they still offered something of substance. I love the look into Jack that they did for DMC, that’s actually one of my biggest references when I painted my DX15 coat, they really do a good job of showing it’s color, which is not brown like HT always does.

The closest company doing cloth costumes was Tonner with this abomination.

Medicom RAH is second best in my eyes with black, it looks better than Hershey chocolate brown. The tailoring is also stellar, the only downside was using glue on buttons.

All the plastic figures get it right, NECA, Hallmark, Diamond Select, Figuarts, Revoltech.

I would genuinely like to know what reference HT and Beast Kingdom use to think it’s the brown they use.

Not as much of an abomination as the POTC Barbie I tripped over trolling the 'bay. WTF. The effect is sort of like Angelica in OST faking being a man. Didn't know something like that got made.

The DMC vid said the coat is this linen/silk blend so guessing it naturally has different tones because of the linen. Then there's the color grading. It's the whole Mando costume grey/brown thing again.

I am impressed the coat material has a bit of texture imitating linen at scale. Same with the Obi-Wan tunic.

Coat always looks too brown to me too, but maybe under the right lighting...

You could probably take some artistic liberty with this to make it smaller, either way, a proper CotBP Jack standing on the sinking mast would be a beautiful sight and the crown jewel of a lot of collections.

I'd be willing to take just the mast part as a stand, in the interest of space.

Oh yeah definitely Barbossa with the chest itself, but Jack with a section of the grotto that can connect to Barbossas for an epic display.

I love how those two's character development goes on through all the films.

I'm pretty sure that's the same person I reached out to years ago. They were willing to take on a commission to make another one, but they told me it was very fragile and likely to break during transit. They'd made an Orca for someone else that had suffered serious damage during shipping. So the whole thing scared me off.

They were willing to take on a commission to make another one, but they told me it was very fragile and likely to break during transit. They'd made an Orca for someone else that had suffered serious damage during shipping. So the whole thing scared me off.

Yeah that would terrify me to, plus it proberly wont be cheap to get made and ship. The size is the biggest problem for me. How cool as it is this thing is huge and take so much space. The new stand from hot toys is fine for me, it does the job and takes the right ammount of space.

Agreed, that started with the DX15 and was very impressive.

I bought a 2nd DX15 coat long ago with the intent of following Maulfan's successful work at colorizing it to look more screen accurate, but never got around to it.

Now I'll have an Artisan version with the same issue. Too many coats, not enough hats... drink up, me hardies, yo ho!

Just one more thing they keep getting wrong with Jack lol.

Kinda reminds me of how Vader is treated by HT. Bunch of reuse and lack of giving it their all level of effort.

Someone mentioned it earlier, but I'd also like HT to try a few more expressions other than the same two over the last 3 figures.

In that way, being the same face, HT Sparrow's face is a lot like Vader's mask. It changes only in increments.
