I found that if you twist the bicep it seemes to tighten the ball socket at the shoulder. I have one arm that gets loose but this action tightens it.

Yeah, even with pliers its very hard to rotate my shoulders. I used a rag between shoulder and plier so no bite marks. But its gonna take a lot of twisting to loosen mine to the point where I could actually use the joint.

Right now I want to get that "eye" ring to move independently of the mouth ring.

I have a feeling eye ring is attached to the mouth ring by a middle rod or something. I can't believe the eyes aren't hinged.

So there's no ratcheting in the shoulders like the battle droids'?
No ratcheting, but they rotate, but very hard to loosen up. I have mine to a point that I can turn them with just a tad bit of extra effort. I have a feeling this is going to come up a lot in the next few weeks as more guys get their IG-88's.

:)

Ugh! It's going to be a long week for me! :lol

Shoulders have a lot of movement even without the shoulder-cap rotation. The ball joint gives a good/useable motion. The only thing the rotating shoulder cap does is allow him to raise his arms above his head, which I don't see too many people using too often.

It's a shame that the function is there but works so poorly. But again, its not a function one needs for this figure.

However, they better figure it out for 3PO as he has similar shoulder bells.

I have a feeling C-3PO is a figure they have spent/or will spend a great deal of time ironing out a lot of details on. Nice to see droids working well in the SW line and chrome surfaces appearing in the Joe line; all bodes well for an awesome protocol droid :rock

I agree...hand over the humanoids to HT, and let Sideshow work on all the mechanical stuff - their Ig-88 looks pretty awesome...

Got IG-88 yesterday. The figure looks great and the light up features are much brighter then the picture show.

Cool, more IG! :clap Love the 3 villains like in the pic with Kirshner. IG is definitely one of Sideshow's best figures -- and a welcome foreshadow of Grievous as well as Terminator.

Can you turn the shoulders on yours?

I had to heat the shoulders with a hair dryer to move them. They were so tight I was afraid they would break.

There's going to be a lot of GF's and wives wondering where their hair dryers are in the next few weeks. I suppose also a lot of people saying they can't get the shoulders to rotate and calling SSC.

I think I got all the fixes made and I'm happy with my purchase. I was kind of on the side of "well we shouldn't have to mess with these figures like this because of what we pay for them", but you know what you really get to know the figure inside and out making the little fixes and what not. Hell of a job SSC!

I agree with OTF, but I wish my shoulder caps rotated a lot easier. They might as well be glued. Still not sure if I should put WD40 on plastic but I have to do something the get movement out of these shoulders. I'd send this guy back to SS but I'm not certain that this isn't a problem for ALL the IGs. Anyway, sent an email to Sideshow customer service to see what they recommend.

Everything else works surprisingly well.

:nono..............DO NOT !!!!!........that could very well break down paint & plastic. i would research that a bit.

WD40 will not harm plastic. Never tried it myself.

"Polycarbonate and clear polystyrene plastic are among the few surfaces on which to avoid using a petroleum-based product like WD-40."

strait from the wd-40 website...............would the plastic used by ssc be considered either of the two?

Hmm, don't know about the polycarbonate. And no need to worry about clear polystyrene. How many figures have clear plastic parts?
