This thing is amazing - no time to play or take pics, but here's a couple of quick pics next to my Hasbro IG. They are the exact same height fully extended.

Hasbro IG I love, but with the molded wires, mold seam lines etc, it's definitely a toy - the SSC one has detail to burn.

cool review, mine is meant to be here today and is in the depot a bus ride away atm but I wont be in, or have time to go there till friday I think:gah:

maybe I dont have my Sideshow Ig-88 fully extended cause my Hasbro one seemed taller

Ok, there is a small hole on the back of ig-88 - near where the holster would rest - does that serve any kind of function? I thought maybe it was to keep holster in place, but saw no peg on it....?

The above post might have some insight into that :lol

And here are the baby IG-88s in the womb - here they are pure, with the potential to fulfil anything in their lives

That concludes where droids come from

Well, Hasbro IG was $24.99, but who's counting...

The SSC IG is like holding a cross between model and a real machine. I love discovering how it works. I was blown away when I saw the waist pivot/pistons working. He can't turn/tilt much, but it is very much like a real robot. The rubber elbows is a nice touch - again, real machine.

Those who say it feels too delicate... how else could they capture all the detail? The Hasbro IG is great for durability but it's got molded wires, visible joint in the middle of the elbows etc.

My complaints are limited - the LED cap is very problematic to me. Mine just doesn't sit down flush properly and when you turn it on, the top sinks down too much, slightly altering the look of the top of the head. Unfortunately, I will probably try to mod it a bit to get it right.

The head shape is still a little off, and the lack of up/down on the eyes is a real bummer - pretty much the only obvious misstep in terms of posability to give him attitude.

On a very minor note, I wish the blaster sat a little better in the hand - the peg works nicely to hold it in place but the blaster handle interferes with the hand so it has to point off to the side slightly and it means both claspers can't grip the blaster.

But jeez - I was impressed with Gammy and Hammy, but this is actually something quite unique and special. Its intricacy is what I love the most - how it's a shrunken down "real" IG-88. I initially felt my Hasbro IG repainted would suffice... that would have been just nuts now that I've seen this.

Very good points and I'd agree with you on all of them... this is really something very unique and awesome from Sideshow. I'm glad that we've finally made it into completely unique and intricate figures like IG-88. He's not quite to the complexity level of the Endoskeleton, but that is more of a limitation of his design than Sideshow not giving it their all.

The only thing I noticed lacking (aside from the tilting eyes) is the 3rd claw on each hand doesn't move. It did on the Hasbro figure, but I did notice on the Sideshow they were more detailed and due to that being a moving piece would not have worked.

I would suggest using a hair dryer to loosen the joint... hit it for a couple of minutes and then just apply pressure to the joint (try to avoid the thin arm) and it should hopefully budge.

I didn't notice any paint flaking when the shoulders moved... so I don't think mine were painted shut; I just think its a very tight construction.

Damn. Damn. Damn. It is going to be expensive to acquire this figure. I had to cancel my exclusive and I will not settle for the regular.

I'ma be payin' for that unreasonable stubornness.

I might sell you my knife for a reasonably unreasonable price if I decide I don't want it. Then you can find a cheap regular and still get a deal.

He found his way to me and it was like an episode of dog the bounty hunter. I wasn't home so the fedex driver drove it to my university where for the rest of the day I sat there oddly covered in paint with the box next to me (art university :cuckoo:) haha

Great figure, really love it. His right shoulder moves easily, left one is locked but not fussed as I know I can budge it eventually. My only niggle is his ratcheted elbows arent doing the job, and its very hard to get them to remain at their height when holding a gun up on mine. Not too worried though.

I reckon i'm gonna paint the bandolier to match the prototype pic, and maybe add a few highlights and lowlights to sparse areas on the fig itself!
