Double doll dot. What does it mean?

I think they're mistaking the actual catch light from the gloss as a painted one. The gloss works fine, you get realy catch lights, you don't need fake ones that look silly being their under lighting where the figure wouldn't have one from light catching the gloss.

Definitely looks like a single dot when I looked again. None would still be better. :gah:

Of course, that photo is actually a great example of why the dot sucks. The lighting of the room casts a catch light at the top of the eyes, the doll dot is at the bottom where light isn't getting caught. The problem with the dot is that it's showing often when the lighting on the figure puts that part of the eye in shadow and on a real person there'd be not catch light there. It's also not like their gloss isn't strong enough to do it naturally. I just don't get stepping up the paint apps on the rest of the head and then adding that silly thing. I get that it's a classic thing, but adding it to modern figures just looks more and more out of place as Sideshow steps up the quality of their pieces.

If I do go for it, I'll likely order through Alter Ego... get the 10% off.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

I think it's a piece to really ponder the long term feelings towards. The hut has a lot of wow factors to it, but over time, will you still want your Yoda to be displayed sitting around in his hut or would you want him set up like with Luke training in the swamp. I applaud them making the hut and doing it so well, but I feel like a generic swamp environment would have been cooler as it was where the more interesting Dagobah scenes took place. Maybe even a tree he could sit on like when Luke first turns to find him.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

I do see a lot more of Yoda in the sculpt's profile. Straight on he looks a bit off, but from the side is excellent.

Overall still better than Medicom.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

not that these will be hard to get later down the road & probably for cheaper but i couldnt resist..............and i guess i can justify this big purchase due to being pretty selective with what i buy already. right at first i said i was going to pass on it & justified passing due to size. that lasted 5 minutes..............:lol
then the more i kept looking at it & the more pics of yoda im seeing............well.............im pretty stoked about getting this. and i have a place all picked out for it............:yess:
the jabba centerpiece has some competition on its way........:panic:

and i will be expanding the enviro a bit with some extra swamp land.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

I must admit, he looks a lot better in these new pics. I can see more of ESB Yoda in him now. Still not dead-on, but a big improvement over his appearance in the Sideshow photos.

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

sideshow would do well to hire some of our local photogs on this very board.........or at least get some pointers.........:lecture

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

starwars.com has Yoda's height listed as .66 meters
thats basically 26"
5.5 in 1:6th err FROM 1:6th would make him 33"
so yeah, seems he's a little on the tall side but if we hunch him over a bit, I'm sure we can hit the proper height ;)

Re: Sideshow 1:6 TESB Yoda & Dagobah Hut Environment!

I'm sure this body was made with the intent of using it for Ewoks and Ugnaughts and Jawas and all sorts of small scale figures, they said in the video that the body is a miniaturized Pro in design. The hobbit body is just too tall for some of these small creatures, though there were some taller ones amongst them, for hte most part, they were much smaller. You really can only do about 2 Yoda figures, so I would imagine some thought was put into the body being useful beyond him since it's pretty feasible. He's not up to the belt line, that's good enough for me. The hobbits were like 9", that's way to tall, this is much closer, and the other small creatures will look good at that size too.
