what do you mean lazy eyed indy? is there a version in production that's messed up?

Sideshow figures are hand painted and sometimes figures here and there come out with misaligned paint apps that are flukes in the production run and easily replaced.

I have no doubt that's how his portrait'll be, but doesn't mean there won't be mishaps with painting him.

The big ? mark on his paint apps is the 5'Oclock shadow, I hope when going through production samples they either got it subtle and right, or said it's not coming out right, screw it, just leave him flesh toned.

Sorry its this long joke I have with Indy, its cause of the A New Hope Han Solo had a lazy eye. And to be honest I'm worried that this figure will have it too, thats why I didn't pre order it right away, but I can always send it back if I have any problems with it, and get it replaced.

As long as the eyes are perfect I wont be phased by the 5'Oclock shadow well that is unless they paint a beard on him :lol

NOTE: Maul Fan ever since you changed your avatar and sig. I thought you were a new member and had me all confused :).

That's exactly my fear. It's such a fine line between stubble and beard with these figures and so far every figure that should have been a stubble look has come out with a full blown beard, and on a few it was passable, but it isn't with Indy, so if it's beard look or nothing, I say do nothing and then if people want to get custom paint jobs to add the shadow, let them.

Good call, seriously I feel bad for them (sideshow) its so much pressure to get this figure to look good, and to a degree medicom has failed its kinda on their shoulders now, unless you count Takara or whoever else thats releasing that 300.00 one. Anyways I wonder if all this pressure has anything to do with the delays?

To me Indy is a big deal, as far as Icons and I want the best and closest looking likeness I hope Sideshow doesn't disappoint.

I don't think the length of time to get the figure out has to do with outside pressures, I think it's just typical SSC production procedure, wanting it to be a figure they're proud of, and a few things throwin in challenges like making sure mass production of Prometheus generates a solid body and not a loose jointed heap, getting the optimum materials for the clothing, and also maintaining consist paint job between both heads, that's a tough one, the heads really need to look identical and it'll slow production if for some reason that's not happening.

True but when have 2 figures ever looked a like? When choosing my T1000 I had to make sure the head's paint apps were perfect I looked at 5 other ones before choosing the one I got, I think it really looks like the actor.

100% identical, never, with hand painting, but they do need to look alike to a certain percentage or else it's a poor piece. If one head has light brown hair and the other very dark, it's going to look stupid. At the most, some variation to the expression in the eyes can be forgiven, but in terms of shading in the hair and eyebrow paints, if they're not done damn close to one another, the set will look awkward.

If Sideshow does Toht, melted face seems almost certain, with all their Zombie figures, it's a great exercise in sculpting like that and I'd think a lot of fun for any SSC sculptor.

What stage of melting would we want? I say completely blood red, eyeballs rolling back into skull.

I think Toht's more than just a guy in a suit. He's a little more visually interesting than Belloq - his face has more character in that he's not "reasonably good looking guy in suit". His actual costume, with trench-coat, etc, I think would look better and more obviously villainous (after all, who doesn't know to stay away from pasty-faced men in black clothes), he has the scarred hand, and cooler options for accessories: the ominous clothes hanger, maybe the Ra headpiece (a good way to get it to collectors if SS indeed thought the line could be ending) and, of course, a melted head.

If you can get the right one, the Gentle Giant crate has ok-looking sixth scale stones in it. You also get a pretty decent Grail Cup in that set too, and will give Indy something to pose with/sit on for those of us not getting Belloq's environment.

The Hasbro artifacts have great 1:6 stuff. Anyone of my figures can hold the Holy Grail...Jack Sparrow has it at the moment. Looks nice.

On the PF thread their discussing it shipping fairly soon, does anyone think that this bodes well for the 12" figure?

In ways the PF's easier, giant molds for the body instead of small, intricate pieces that need a firm construction like a figure body.
