Huuuwaaaat!? Cloud was one of the dancers! Wooooo, GO DANIEL!
I hope he had a mohawk too.
... but Cinematography? Just asinine.
And that Where the Wild Things Are wasn't even mentioned ...
Loving that THE HURT LOCKER kicked 'tard ass. But I'm actually kind of pissed than AVATAR won "Best Cinematography". It's almost entirely digital and CGI! Most of cinematography is the art of lighting (and shooting) on film. It's gathering complete images through the camera lens. If a movie that is 90% green screen with most of its images coming from computer software can win this, why not an honestly animated film like UP? I can live with AVATAR's win for Art Direction (though it was far from original) or Best Visual Effects (though DISTRICT 9 had much more photo-realistic FX that didn't pull you out of the story)... but Cinematography? Just asinine.
Im glad Kathryn Bigelow won. She deserved it. I been following her since Near Dark. Avatar was a masterpiece of cinema. but to be honest I throught District 9 done so much for the history of cinema in the aspects of sci fi story telling as Avatar did to the technology in film. District 9 was the best picture of 09. I seen it back to back. I seen it Saturday and went back on Sunday to watched it again.
DP's all over the world must still have their jaws on the ground. Honestly, it was baffling that it was even nominated in that category.

I was wrong on one question/prediction in the Oscar contest. I wouldn't doubt someone got it 100% right.
I got at least 6 and maybe 7 (I forgot to write down my picks.) I know for sure I missed best actress though.
Same here on all accounts. It's great that so many movies that I loved were nominated this year. And I'm so glad that Hurt Locker won so many awards - truly deserving although I loved Avatar and District 9 too.
I got them all right and from the looks of it in the comments section of the contest a lot of people did. This was actually probably the easiest year in a decade to pick the winners.
