I don't think I can say it is better than Aliens, but Alien 3 directors cut isn't a bad film. I know alot of people who hate on 3 have not seen the directors cut. Not saying you all here but friends/family of mine.

Uh... that's a bit of a stretch. Not saying I don't absolutely adore the special edition cut of A3 (or Prometheus for that matter), but I'd have to disagree.

Funny seeing how ALIEN came before Aliens or Alien3 and while that might sound extremely obvious , your point is invalid since Alien can be already said to be better than Aliens and it is a million times better than Alien3.

Ironically Alien 3 grossed more money than both Alien and Aliens. Also, Alien 3 seemed to be so-so in united states but for the rest of the world it was twice as profitable as Aliens was. Aliens made about $46 mil worldwide and A3 made $113 1/2 mil worldwide.

I think taste differs not only in individuals but in nations. Must be due to the tv shows we get affecting what we like to see.

actually it is funny you should mention this,
I don't know if this is the case but from personal experience living outside the US,
It felt like movies that came from the US were automatically good, I remember my friends and most of the kids in school going bananas over Godzilla 98 and the Star Wars prequels.
I felt that as long as a movie came from America and had famous actors people would just eat it up.
even Wild Wild West was big where I lived. theaters were packed opening weeks, specially if they are action horror or sci fi


sometimes when I read about movies that did really poorly here but did really big overseas.

Nope, but it dictates if a movie is a success. People treat A3 like its dirt on bottom of their shoe. And Aliens is the masterpiece. But alot of people like A3 As much or even more than Aliens and it was more profitable. Sales = not going in to a debate with no basis.

And its not just that, its the substance of the movie. A3 is well acted, great settings, the creature was actually relevant again. It had a great sound track. And it ended the trilogy perfectly no matter how people were butt hurt about the cartoon characters being killed off at the start of the movie (**** A:CM it was Hicks in the tube). In the end the Nostromo going to the planet eventually killed off all its crew members. Ripley couldnt escape it. because the Xeno is the ultimate creature.

I'd chalk that up to the rest of the world seeing Alien and Aliens on home video. Took a while for the hype train to reach them.

I got love for A3 I won't argue with that I like the flick, your post made it sound like A3 is a better film because it made more money in theaters.
